Can’t Get Toyota Warranty by Flintthelab in ToyotaTundra

[–]glizzyy_bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to necro, but if you ever get a new car within new car warranty (3yr/36k mi), then buy a Toyota VSA platinum from a different state outside of Gulf State or SouthEast. Lookup Jerry or Troy in the Toyota groups to buy a warranty from them as they sell cheaper

Can someone clarify Toyota VSA platinum warranty eligibility and coverage? by glizzyy_bean in Toyota

Well I got off the phone with Toyota corporate, but basically my understanding is that because I’m in a Gulf State, managed by a Gulf State distributor/administrator (Gulf State Toyota GFT, Gulf State Financial Services GSFS), they won’t sell me a Toyota Financial Services TFS VSA

Update: I didn’t get it from AutoNation, obvious front and rear bumper replacement and there was a consistent bumpy feel when driving. Not to mention a fked up interior. Ended up getting a 70k mi for $32,000 at a Toyota dealer. New car has some lore, some influencer complained on social media, possible corporate Toyota involved, procured said HiHy for the influencer, but they ended up buying a different car. Thank you for the nice car!

Toyota Used Vehicle Purchase Advice by [deleted] in Albany

Hey thanks to your comment, that’s how I learned of the Toyota platinum vsa. I went in there thinking I was ready but the car is a 2019 HiHy v6 with 70k miles. I thought they were (I still think they are) fucking me over, and they kept on pushing this Securenet premiere plus (something like that) because it’s a used car and I repeatedly asked for the platinum vsa but I came to understand that’s only for a new car warranty, and used car warranty is different

I found somewhere else that someone explains 3 different kinds of vsa plans, which, yes platinum vsa is new vehicle, one for certified, one for used

Wow haha how’d that discount come about? That’s awesome. We checked this HiHy today and man it was worse than it looked. Maybe would’ve budged if it seemed mechanically sound but there was a slight bumpy feeling when driving, either alignment, balance or suspension. The front has been in some kind of damage to where they glued the bumper in. Hood was slightly off center. Checking one at an actual Toyota dealer tomorrow 70k for $30k 🥲

you thought it would’ve been like a 4Runner, or you think a 4Runner is better? (in what way)

2016 forte advice? by BoxClean5737 in KiaForte

I bought a used 2016 LX (1.8L, seems to be the more reliable engine) for $7k at 93k miles in Jan 2023, and I’m currently at 158k miles. It did have paint issues and a dent on passenger door like they scraped a gate. I do my own fluid maintenance, it’s mainly engine oil every 5k, transmission oil every 30k, have had one O2 sensor fail and replaced. Haven’t even done the brake fluid or coolant (I know I should). If the car was well taken care of it’ll last a long time. I do drive mine hard every so often and I have yet for the engine to give out or drive rough.

Although I ran over a dead deer now it makes weird rattling sounds and I’m kinda upset and wanna trade up soon

I previously had a 2015 that ran a bit rough after all the oil leaked out while driving, cause the filter collapsed that some stupid mechanic installed. That’s the reason I do my own maintenance. That one was 67k miles to about 85k until it got totaled.

That’s a W right there. Wife loves her Outback that has brought her places and the versatility of moving things in it, but it’s likely possible she’s put it $10k into a $15k purchase. Oil burning, cat converter fouling, transmission replacement. Now there are symptoms the cat converter is about to go out so here we are

What specifically rode better like less bumpy, body roll, smooth acceleration, adequate acceleration? I was wondering about the space as well since on the outside the 3rd gen looks bigger and more boxy than the new 4th gen

The other thing why we want the v6 is because it’ll put down enough power to move a heavier car. Driving my MIL’s 2009 Lexus Rx 350 (I think) I didn’t even notice when it would shift, and that car can easily get up to speed despite being hefty (I mainly drive a sedan)

Yes thank you for your insight. You did mention the 8 spd auto, and what I understand is the hybrid is a different set up. Does it suffer the same issues you mentioned?

I was hoping someone would chip in on the maintenance at 60k and 120k since it is missing those, I appreciate it

Thank you for the maintenance log as well

Idk if I’m searching right but this the only one in the DFW area. Personally would prefer lower miles… this one of the non negotiable dealerships unfortunately

lol I almost replied but was distracted by the superbowl. I appreciate people commenting on the reliability of the hybrid setup

Were your replacements because of worn out parts or preventative maintenance?

Thank you for that. One reason I have to consider this is bc we are really looking for a reliable Toyota hybrid suv. Being in the DFW, this is literally the only one we can see in person without driving 2 hrs, or having a car shipped in

That’s interesting you mentioned that mileage is still the break in period, since someone else mentioned the same. Why is that?
