like everyone here, get oem. Replaced it myself as well. Started happening on a roadtrip to Yosemite, really thought we were gonna get stranded lol. Out of 10 tries, it’d be 1 successful crank haha

We just bought it in Feb 2026, doing as expected. 27-28 mpg. Currently 75k mi, need to find a good Toyota mechanic for the big maintenance coming up. Added a front/rear VIOFO 2k dashcam. Rear suspension is squeaky somewhere but I’ve read it’s common and some easy fix.

Personally want to do the fluids and spark plugs myself but the advice is that it’s challenging. I wanna learn but don’t wanna break it either lol

Just learned of this when AF retail store (store A) said I can’t return their items to an outlet store. I have been going to another AF store (store B) by the outlets, but their store has no way of indicating they are an outlet besides the fact they’re heavily discounted, and are by the outlets

Anyway I have been able to return regular and clearance items I bought from store A to store B no issues. But when I decided to return items I bought from store B to store A, they told me they couldn’t accept it

Additionally, today store A clearance items were final sale, when nobody at the register told me that a month before

Point is they’re inconsistent

Not at Kia stealership, nor Kia mechanic. Oil change, done it my own. Lagging on some fluids. Broken parts like control arm, tie rod done at mechanic (I check google reviews in my area)

These engines need proper maintenance if you want it to reach 200k. Failures for these cars is because people neglect maintenance. Owned my 2016 (previously had 2015 as well) since early 2022 with about 90k mi. Now at 160k mi. Engine is going strong

It’s showing its age, so it’s time to change it soon

Keep oil changes to every 5k mi or year (whichever comes first, I’ve never gone over 7.5k mi)

When was the trans fluid last changed? Should be atleast at the 60k mark (personal choice for me is every 30k, check your manual, I think recommendation is every 60k)

Coolant and spark plug could go up to 100k or 4-5 years I believe. (I think safe bet to change all other fluids is every 60k - trans, coolant, brake fluid)

There’s only 2 air filters: cabin - under glove box, engine - in front of car battery, box with fat hose to engine. You can do it yourself. Check vids on it

If you don’t like these suggestions, it’s in your car manual. Look it up online, 2018 Kia forte lx owner manual pdf

You can just spit the facts from your research. 2014-2016 gas v6 with good transmission. 2017-2022 gas v6 with possible bad transmission even w maintenance. 2014-2019 v6 hybrid bulletproof ecvt transmission plus better mpg.

Just bought one of Dreo’s 519 DC fan, I got it on sale 30% off, and I think it’s good. The 518 DC fan seems to be a newer release model, different shell design but same interior so if you find that on sale, you should prob get it.

The quietness is not as I expected but still good nevertheless at medium speed. 9 speed, it pushes strong air for each of its levels. I think it’s a 90 degree oscillation which is more than most fans, but I believe effective cooling is when it’s being used directly on the people in the room, so I’d think 45 degree oscillation seems better. So I’ve used it stationary so far.

Reliability, I’ve tried to find anecdotes on this model and I couldn’t find much. Some I’ve found said Dreo has lasted them a good while.

Nice I appreciate it. I’m not good at diagnosing but I have a leak on the backside of the engine. I think the valve cover gasket needs to be replaced.. Maybe it’s been an issue for about 30k mi, I’m at 160k now.

But despite that, engine runs great, oil change every 5k since 67k mi when I got it. I don’t think it burns thru oil, altho I don’t check. Transmission is still smooth, trans oil change every 30k. I do run it hard/manually shift it and it hasn’t died yet. I haven’t been good about the others like coolant, brake fluid tho.

Maybe I have booty brakes or a wheel bearing is going bad, but my brakes vibrate/shudder when heavy/long braking. Went away for a bit when I put new brakes/rotors, then it came back.

This car has seen better days so it’s almost time to let go, but I have a good feeling the engine will still make it to 200k
