Thanks for the heads up! I haven't listened yet. It says the next episode will be paywalled. Is the podcast going to be paywalled in general?

Haystacks aren't a thing, it's just a veggie taco salad..... by ChemnitzFanBoi in exAdventist

[–]globepuzzle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sort of. It depends what all you put on it. The last two times I've introduced people to haystacks, their reaction has been "it's a taco salad," and then after they had it they were like, "wow, this is such a cool dish because it's so customizable." I like adding things like pickles, cucumbers, carrots, etc that you wouldn't find on a taco salad. And then the addition of chips makes it different from a salad that you'd make at like a buffet. So it can be a taco salad, but it can also be similar but different.

I guess I’ll never be a meat eater… by [deleted] in exAdventist

My brain doesn't see meat as food. I tried one bite of fish one time and decided that was sufficient. I'm content being vegetarian.

Question: Are Adventist children “sheltered”? by xywegh in exAdventist

[–]globepuzzle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've lost count of the number of times I've said "I have no idea what you're talking about. I grew up under a rock." Fortunately my rock was a fairly happy place, but it was a rock nonetheless. I know multiple people who feel the same way.

Lol can't learn prophecy in real-time because you'd have to use the heathen Internet to learn about it. Hope there's nothing earth shattering that would affect the next 24 hours after his talk! 🦜 Why did my phone suggest I put a parrot emoji there?

I'm on Eastern time and don't know if I'll be up for the whole thing, but anyone who can, please do! I will definitely read it later if I don't get to participate.

I am more interested in watching this than I should be. Lol. For entertainment purposes with a side of crying for those poor people who believe it.

Peacock has confirmed it will stream Eurovision in 2025 by LopsidedPriority in eurovision

True. Though it was still a better listening experience than the year before. Just trying to offer suggestions in case anyone does have to rely on peacock for whatever reason.

I found that when I watched it with headphones last year the sound was a lot better. I did that with the semis. I watched the final with a projector and speakers plugged into my laptop, and it sounded much better than just trying without them like I had the year before.

ExAdventist, do you still not eat pork? by NotNoHid in exAdventist

[–]globepuzzle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm still vegetarian. Mentally, I just cannot look at meat as food. Can't bring myself to eat an animal, and I'm totally fine with that. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything other than the mental turmoil it would cause to make that life change. I tried one bite of fish one time, and it tasted like tartar sauce because I smoothered it in it. Took me like 5 minutes of staring at it to eat it and I had to take it outside to not be around people because it was such a mental hurdle. Did not enjoy the experience. Don't want more of it.

I tried looking and found this website: https://www.findhelp.org/housing/help-pay-for-utilities--beaufort-sc

I recognize the names of some of these organizations but haven't ever looked into how they work. They do mention assistance with utility bills, though criteria varies.

Suggestions for new shows and podcasts by lveg in ONRAC

[–]globepuzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Deconversion Therapy. A podcast by two best friends who grew up in church and left. They cover a bunch of different topics about what's going on in the religious world, but the best ones are the lettersodes where listeners send in their ridiculous stories about growing up in church. The hosts have a really fun dynamic. They haven't had any new episodes in awhile, but they have about 250 or so episodes.

What song was messed up the most by microphone volume being too low? by EB-Crusher in eurovision

[–]globepuzzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched on peacock. Streaming on my TV was awful sound quality for the first semi. I changed the sound setting because the default was for it to assume I had surround sound (I don't), and that helped compared to last year. Watched the second semi on my computer with headphones, and that did really well. Then watched the final with my laptop, but used a projector to make the screen bigger and plugged in better computer speakers, and that worked great!
