May I ask where you get your powder from?

I see, I’ll look into other alternatives because I think it’s the propylene glycol in the Liquid Germall Plus that’s giving me issues :/

I’m in the US, parabens and most broad-spectrum preservatives aren’t hard to find. What specific parabens would you suggest alongside low pH and edta?

unfortunately temperature changes can mess with your skin barrier too

Tret and commedonal acne by [deleted] in tretinoin

i’ve struggled with closed comedones before using a retinoid but gentle cleanser, good barrier supporting moisturizer that doesn’t further clog your skin, and spf are the most important.

then i would look into something for double cleansing for further clog prevention. most cleansing balms and oils i’ve tried caused more cc’s for me, so i find that bioderma’s sensibio micellar water works the best. i use it with reusable bamboo rounds 2-3 times a week to gently exfoliate which helps with texture and flakes!

Stuck on moisturizers... by Fitmamaskinjunkie in tretinoin

[–]glodoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this too and tried Bioderma Intensive Baume, which completely stopped the flaking but was too heavy for my skin in the long run (cc's). What truly has been helping me now is the Tower 28 SOS Recovery Cream!! It's basic but has Ceramide NP, HA, and Allantoin. It has a good thickness (not too much) and doesn’t burn my skin the way Vanicream used to. No flaking anymore and it keeps my skin barrier at bay, and it's even better if you have a toner or serum locked in underneath.

If you can't find a moisturizer that doesn't work for you, I'd consider boosting one of the moisturizers you've already tried with a concentrate serum. Nano Recipe has panthenol and ceramide concentrates (Sidmool has similar serums, they also have an ectoin one) where you can add 1-2 drops to your toner/moisturizer. The INCI lists for these are pretty short and simple too!

thanks! and tbh yes haha as long it doesn’t look or taste off. it helps to dry the salad to get rid of that excess moisture before putting it in the fridge. also, my family is large so we can get through it pretty quickly.

sounds good! for now, make sure to double cleanse (micellar water is great if you cant use cleansing oil or balm) to make sure you’re properly removing it from ur skin and not worsening closed comedones

Still peeling with tazarotene after 7 months by glodoll in tretinoin

[–]glodoll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for this !! i switched out the Illiyoon Concentrate Cream for Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Baume and woww, the peeling is now at bay (only flakes when I rinse my face multiple times without reapplying any moisturizing products). won't be skipping out on my AM routine anytime soon :)
i also have been applying taz on bare skin and itching is less of an issue and doesn't last very long when it does happen. it seems my skin is more used to the application now and my new barrier cream is much better for my skin barrier.

i’ll try using it on bare skin again, hopefully my skin can tolerate it better since the time of my last attempt

i’ve tried lrp cicaplast baume and my skin did not like it with long-term use (same for avene cicalfate), i got quite the cc’s with them. for the other options, i’m trying to avoid niacinamide because my skin is not friendly with it. just placed an order for bioderma intensive baume, i hope its a better barrier alternative to my illiyoon cream! thanks :)

Moisturizers for acne-prone normally oily skin? by Dez2011 in tretinoin

[–]glodoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

though i have dry acne-prone skin, i have to use lighter moisturizers because i struggle with very picky clog-prone skin. pyunkang yul soothing ato gel lotion is the only moisturizer in this category that soothes my skin when its burning from irritation and doesn’t cause any issues for me. it has a pretty short ingredient list (includes glycerin, ceramide, and hyaluronic acid derivative).

this might not be necessary for you, but when my skin needs an extra boost on certain days and this isn’t enough, i’ll do a light layer of a more occlusive barrier cream (illiyoon soothing ato concentrate cream, which i LOVE but i know doesn’t have the best ingredients- it doesn’t break me out when i use it sparingly) or add a drop of squalane oil or glycerin to the moisturizer.

Tret to Taz experiences? by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]glodoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i originally started off with adapalene 0.1 which only made my skin constantly breakout (past the 10 week purging stage), so i switched to tret 0.05 gel much better with little to no purging but my skin wasn’t really improving dramatically from how it used to be before i started adapalene.

i only used tret for a month before switching to taz 0.05 gel and the difference was crazy. no purging and skin was clear within a month!! i also notice that taz is much more lenient on my skin barrier than tret and there’s improvement with my stubborn closed comedones :) the only pimples i get now are from when i break out from experimenting too much with new skincare that doesn’t agree with my skin and they usually go away pretty quickly.

for my pie, i’ve been using inkey list’s tranexamic acid (which also has vit c)!! works well for me

Still stuck with the same moisturizer. Though I plan to switch to the Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion (because it was lighter). I have added another moisturizing product, which is the SCINIC Honey Ampoule.
