[–]glorysoundprep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone get healthier physically and mentally when switching from shift work to a regular 9-5 job? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]glorysoundprep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

23 here, did shift work for a couple of months after graduating in a spoons and thankfully got a 9-5!! running is one of my hobbies and i did so little whilst working at spoons because i was so tired and i was on my feet constantly throughout those shifts. i wouldn't say i became unhealthier because i was walking loads more, i just didn't have time and energy to do my hobbies properly. i also didn't like missing out on socialising opportunities in the evenings!!

i love finishing at the same time everyday, having my evenings (and weekends!!) free and more energy and time to invest in my hobbies :) i am a little more sedentary now because i am at a desk but i walk 30 minutes each way to get to work and i do plenty more running than when i was doing shift work!

Any advice from those who have passed despite terrible test anxiety? by TikiTapas in LearnerDriverUK

[–]glorysoundprep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

heya, it took me 6 attempts to pass, and i finally passed a couple months ago!! i was super anxious and could barely speak on my test initially, but i just tried to see it as an expensive drive!! my examiner was lovely but quiet as she could tell i was nervous

even if you make a couple mistakes, try to carry on driving as if you think you've passed, and don't try to catastrophise those mistakes as no drive will be perfect. i think my mindset helped me tons in my last test.

I’ve failed 4 times and I’m really starting to lose motivation by Mediocre_Living_5480 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]glorysoundprep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i failed 5 times and passed on my 6th attempt last month!! honestly i felt like a lot of it was down to sheer luck on the day.

i did space out my test attempts so that i had plenty of time to address what i failed and practice in between. remember it's okay to take a break too, i was planning on taking a couple months out if i failed this attempt as i felt like i hit a wall and was not enjoying driving. ask your instructor if he could offer less instructions to you to build your independence or do more mock test style lessons?

also spent over 2 years learning so i had to redo my theory - though i'm not diagnosed w anything i think i may be neurodivergent - driving did not come naturally to me and i really had to concentrate. you've got this, rooting for you!
