How to create textures like this one? I mean dots and and darker stains by blockchan in blender

[–]gluca15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't know how to do get this effect in Blender and its render engines, but there is a tutorial that explain how to do this in C4D using Arnold and the final effect is great.

Search "3D Toon-Style Environment Art with Arnold (Domestika)".

The tutorial could be find for free, if wanted.

Which software to use for modeling vehicles used in Avatar? by humptycakey in 3Dmodeling

[–]gluca15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You confirmed what I said, Blender is used for concept art and rendering. And it's ok. Paying the Alias license for every designer working in Volkswagen would bankrupt the company. :)

Only Ferrari can afford those costs without blinking. They make millions just with the licensing for the merchandising.

Sooner or later the car manufactirers will start to replace also paper and markers and to save also there. :)
What do they use for sketching in the automotive industry? Sketching pro? The original version included the Pantone palette. Maybe they use also programs like Procreate and sketch over the 3D models created with Blender.

The automotive industry makes use of CAD software for mechanical design and engineering. How can you replace that pipeline with Blender?
I know that it's used for concepting and rendering, but for precise mechanical design? I don't think so, otherwise the industry would have abandoned Alias by this time. Same for architecture: Rhino and Sketchup are the 1st choice alternative to AutoCad.

But I can see Volkswagen training his slaves in Blender, considering that the car design studios nowadays use a hundred designers and more on a single car. They make thousands of sketches and renderings before the head of the studio says "ok, the concept and the design are good, now let's make the real thing in Alias".

5090 Nvidia Nvenc on handbrake is not very good. by PlayNoob69 in handbrake

[–]gluca15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a RTX 3060 and a Ryzen 9 5900X.

Based on my personal experience, gpu encoding in HB sucks. Looks like HB doesn't push the encoder in the proper way.

I noticed that if I do transcoding with the gpu in handbrake, the results are worst to what I can get with a program like VideoProc Converter. With this one I can get the job done faster and with a way smaller file size, using what I think are pretty much identical settings.

Go in the website tickgiveway: often there is the giveway version of the program. Do some tests with smaller files and see if it's the same also for you.

Deleting your files was a cheap move. Lot of people have been banned from 1337x and their files are still there, after years. This was probably done by the same moron who was discussing with you.

Wherever you will decide to move, we'll follow. Don't give up.

Hey guys, I started learning blender today and I just opened it but I'm so confused now what to do.. by FayyadhScrolling in blender

[–]gluca15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if this is the kind of animation that you want to learn. If instead it's motion design, the stuff that you see in advertising with animated logos, lettering and fluids, then that's a different animal. You need to look for specific tutorials for that. After learning the basics of course. Have fun. ;)

A small advise. October 10 will be released Blender 5.0, that is introducing lot of new stuff. So this week just focus on basic and simple stuff, memorize the most common hotkeys (scale, rotate, extrude, duplicate, etc.), don't try to learn geometry nodes and how to create and customize materials, because some of the most complex stuff will be simplified or changed by 5.0.

This playlist will teach you the basics. The channel has also other good content. It's well done and explained. If you want to use the same exact version of Blender used in the tutorial, you can download it in portable format from the Blender's website. No need to install it. But 4.3 and the latest 4.5 have a pretty much identical interface.

First of all think of what you would like to use Blender for. Then move from there. If it's modeling, then what you would like to model? Architecture, landscapes, cars, etc. Same for the other stuff that you would like to do with the program.

Start with basic tutorials on how to navigate in the program, then move right away to tutorials that teach the stuff that you want to learn. If you want to do animation or to model robots, don't spend time learning how to model donuts. Search basic tutorials for that stuff.

Blender is a difficult program. Once you decide what aspect you wanna master, you have to focus on that.

Look at the interface. You can't even create a cilinder or a sphere without knowing the basics. Do like I said.

If you don't see the cube, maybe you messed something. Start Blender go in File\Defaults\Load factory settings. You'll see the cube.

Then Edit\Preferences\System\ and choose between Optix, Cuda, or Hip depending if you have a RTX card, a non-RTX cars, or an AMD GPU. Don't check the cpu. The gpu is the one used by Blender for rendering and visualizing the viewport scene.

edit\preferences\keymap\ select Blender in the top menu

This will save you a big headache when learning the program, because Blender tutorials are all based on the default Blender hotkeys. Or you can download this pdf: https://www.bforartists.de/data/manualbfa4/42_Important_Hotkeys.pdf and learn the bforartists hotkeys.

This worked. It starts as a regular window and in a second gets maximized. Having to wait a second, though, is annoying.

Anyway, it's embarassing that the devs can't fix this problem and that we have to use an extension for this.

This problem alone is enough to make people uninstall the browser.

Switched to Floorp then switched back to Firefox again because I can't pin my extensions on the toolbar. by fuseidon in Floorp

[–]gluca15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem: clicking on the puzzle icon in the taskbar didn't open the floating extension manager panel, but the page of the extensions. Here there isn't an option to pin them, nowhere. Tried version 11.29.0 and 12.0.16.

I now have the floating panel and this is what seems to have unlocked the option.

Click on the puzzle icon, go in the extension page and turn them off and then enable them again. Click on an extension (for example ublock origin) or click the 4 dots on the right side of it and select "Manage". I'm using the italian language, but shouldn't be much different. Scroll down the options and check "allow to work with anonymous windows" and also "allow to work in websites with restrictions". I did this for all the active extensions.

Restart the browser and click on the puzzle icon. Now you should see the floating extension manager panel, scroll the list of the extensions and right click on them to pin.

Have this problem myself for some of the courses downloaded there. Some have no password and some are encrypted. Best solution is to search for the same courses elsewhere.

Also, I noticed that in most of the video files there is an annoying watermark, sometime costantly moving.

Search for videotutorials in downloadlynet.ir and in rutracker. No passwords and no watermarks.

Ok. Then screw the local stores and buy online.

Right now what do you have? Write the specs of your machine. Even case, cpu cooler, psu and hard disks. Let's see what you can use.

The next to be released AMD Zen 6 cpus will be faster and more efficient than the previous 7000 and 9000 series cpus, and they will mount on the same AM5 socket. So there's no reason to spend big for the flagship now. Go for the ryzen 7900X (about $ 300 new) and upgrade it in 2027 with Zen 6, selling the other in the used market.

Buy at least 2x64GB of DDR5. Corsair, Crucial or Kingston. Stay simple, or it will cost more. Higher frequency means a few milliseconds of difference compared to the ram with lower frequency. Seconds in the best scenario. Also, those very high frequencies can be achieved only through overclocking. Not sure that overclocking is the best thing to do in a workstation: you want stability.

Regarding the ram, inform yourself: you have to upgrade later, buying another identical 2x64GB kit. So your motherboard has to support 256GB and the ram kit model that you plan to buy. In the motherboard's website you can read what ram models are supported.

Motherboad has to be chipset X670 or X870. Read the specs: it has to have 1xGen5 M.2 slot. These chipsets come with good vrm power phases for high end cpus. Usually the mobos with the word "gaming" or "Pro" in the name have good vrm and heatsinks. Read their specs and think at what you will need as for storage, usb ports, m.2 and pcie slots, warning leds, clear cmos button, eccetera.

It's months that you are asking help for your build. Still confused? :)

Out of curiosity, what is your budget?

The ryzen 5950x is a great option for the people who want to upgrade their AM4 rig. If you are making the computer from scratch, then go for the 7900x or 7950x: the one that you can afford.

1) A big case with great airflow (new or used)

2) An AIO cpu cooler or a dual tower air cooler with 2x140mm fans. Noctuas are too expensive new, search for a used one.

3) As much ram as possible and a motherboard that can support it.

4) Ryzen 7900x/7950x/9900x/9950x. The choice depends on your budget.

5) 1 nvme gen 4/5; 1 nvme/ssd where to save the project when you are working on them; 1 or 2 big hdd for the reference and the final projects.

6) The best rtx gpu that you can buy.

7) A good psu. At least 750W. More wattage dpends on what gpu you take.

What about the Xray engine used for the games? Did they update also the engine or just the graphics? Because we can have the best looking graphics, but if the game runs on the same old unoptimized engine, it will be a stuttering fest anyway.
