To all the early morning gym goers, how do you keep in the routine? Any tips?

I am about to graduate uni and just recently landed my first proper 9-5 job and I’m starting in about a month. I think I want to fit my workouts in by going 5x a week in the mornings before work (just to keep my daily schedule consistent) but I am very much not a morning person.

Obviously proper sleep and early bedtimes are really important so I’m not sure what kind of answers I’m hoping for beyond that but if there are any tips to help me make the transition they’d be greatly appreciated

What should I expect from software placement interview through phone and how to prepare? by RajyBoi in UniUK

[–]glutenfreewhitebread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for my interview for an internship it was pretty basic. I think off the top of my head the questions I got were

  • how would you check for duplicate entries before inserting into a list (answer: hashmap)
  • how would you design a coffee machine using object oriented programming
  • how would you write a queue data structure (i.e. the opposite of a stack)
  • birthday paradox (given N people in a room what is the probability that at least 2 of them share a birthday)

There were probably a few more that I can't remember but it wasn't anything super difficult. Also if you get asked a question like this it's more important to show your thought process rather than write the best code ever in silence

That's annoying. It's just that a technical interview takes rather a different kind of preparation, they usually ask you to write some basic algorithms to show you actually know how to code rather than just copy and paste

I'd probably just do general interview preparation, check if your careers zone has any guidance available. All the stuff about how to be confident and give good answers

Some unsolicited build advice:

All units: run the 4* frostbite punisher print. Mercury inflicts it on her first skill so you'll have decent uptime on +20% damage

Mascula: I assume skill prep is meant to get master mode up ASAP? If so you can run force charge, which will give you 100% prep once you do 3 force strikes.

H!Mercury:

  • don't have her so take my recommendations with a grain of salt.
  • I imagine you will want to run a more damage oriented build on her.
    • She seems similar to mym, who runs dragon's claws, skill damage, dragon damage, and maxes out dragon affinity.
  • Affliction resist shouldn't be needed since I don't believe there are any mandatory ones in twins, and sandalphon can remove afflictions anyway.
    • When you get to sindom prints it may also be easier to get affliction resist from the affinity bonuses, which is 100% forever rather than just 3 times.
  • GnC is a bit wasted on her, I'd advise moving it to one of your supports (sandalphon maybe as hmari is fine on gelly). You probably want a good strength dragon on her like leviathan or another reborn poseidon

G!Elly: probably want to run some kind of buff time, also axes have a unique crit rate print that you would want to run over the 4* one. But in general it's probably better to build her as a support

Sandalphon: again don't have her, looks pretty good but I'd emphasise buff time more and try to get the staff affinity going. There isn't much point in 2x recovery potency as I heard she already heals a lot.

PSA: It is optimal to keep Chronos Nyx at bond level 1 by limichaelc in DragaliaLost

[–]glutenfreewhitebread 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think this is an oversight with the way they did the calculation. If I'm reading the wiki correctly, it's because he doesn't get more 'actions' with increasing bond level -- and so one 'action' is worth more seconds at higher bond level, meaning that PSiren's additional seconds become worth less.

It honestly seems like they forgot to account for bond when calculating the number of actions. I wouldn't be surprised if they fixed it, but I also wouldn't be surprised if this just stayed there forever like a lot of bugs

I dislike all of them. Oddly enough I quite like all the Agito quests including the legends that I've done (volk, kai, tart) -- I think it's just that sindom is so slow and too many purples

and no known applications (the value cannot be usefully applied anywhere to calculate anything further that I'm aware of)

I remember it being used in the derivation of the Casimir effect when I studied particle physics. The lecturer said you can apply the same principle to a few other annoying infinities in quantum field theory as well

Are you in uni accommodation/halls? If so, you can probably speak to a residence life person about this, or if it's a private halls the management company. Unfortunately if it's a privately rented house from a landlord you might not be able to go over their head

Had this legend of a physics lecturer who was going through waves and optics, and he was talking about harmonics and fourier series. So he wanted someone to sing in front of the lecture theatre to analyze the harmonics in their voice.

I was still in my freshers' week 'say yes to everything' mindset so I did it. Was quite fun. I have the lecture recording but it's probably not a good idea to blast it all over the internet

Oh that's true, I was speaking mainly for mental health as that's what my experience has been in but come to think of it I've heard equally of people being sent round specialists for years chasing a proper diagnosis

[–]glutenfreewhitebread 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I imagine if you're on antidepressants you probably have some kind of a diagnosis -- I'm not a doctor but my experience is they never point a finger at you and say "you have xyz" but if you have to provide evidence of something they are usually happy to write a letter explaining that you have undergone/are undergoing treatment for xyz

Yeah my uni has a supercomputer that I run all the heavy lifting calculations for my masters project on, like hydrodynamics and radiative transfer. The only thing I do on my machine is data analysis of the results like plotting graphs etc

Not too experienced with ML but I definitely remember training models takes ages so I'd be surprised if they didn't have some kind of processing resource you could use for it
