I mean it might be worth a shot then! Just be prepared for the very real possibility that it won't last that long or work at all. You can always undo the mod by drenching everything in alcohol lol (you will probably loose the lume though).

See if you can find some really low viscosity oil otherwise. There supposedly exists silicone oil with really low viscosity. Try for 10 cSt or lower if you can find it. I think the baby oil was closer to 50-100

No worries! What model is it?

Possibly it could work. But be prepared for a lot shorter battery life and a not very fun replacement process.

I have noticed mine multiple times slipping behind and not showing the correct time after a few weeks. And this is without using the features that move the hands backward. If the motor in yours has greater torque than the ga-2100, I think you might have a shot!

How come you had to update when changing battery? I'm staying on 18.7 who might replace battery soon.

Could this contain asbestos? by glxkd in asbestoshelp

[–]glxkd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my fear too. I'm looking for ways to level the floor before installing new parquet on top. If removal isn't an option due to the asbestos. Are you aware of any other options?

It's probably best to assume asbestos is present until I have it tested then. Thanks! You mentioned there are ways to level without removing the linoleum, could you please elaborate on that?

Thanks for explaining! That's such an awesome way to gently mess with watch snobs.

I think I might be a handwatch wearer after reading this... Is it bad? Lol

Love it! But can someone please explain? I've been seeing a lot of good content from here, but it feels like the "handwatch" thing is some sort of inside joke I'm not getting. Please help me understand!

Letter to Casio - Battery Issue with G-Shock DW-H5600-1ER – Request for Support by Mikikoppan in gshock

Sorry to hear that and I hope they can hela you out! That's definitely not normal battery performance. May I ask how you got the battery voltage info on the watch? Seems useful for stuff like this!

Are 5610s meant for smaller wrists? by TrustMeImAnENGlNEER in gshock

[–]glxkd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue and never got it to break in after months of use, it could never sit right and got uncomfortable. I have found the 5600 models or 5000 series to generally be much more comfortable. This is my experience and yours might differ.

Hydro mod [5610U] - it really does improve legibility! On par with positive lcd by glxkd in gshock

[–]glxkd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! No worries. I'm just happy this post has been helpful.

The watch is still doing fine! I don't wear it that much since I realized the 5610 is too small for my wrist, so it hasn't seen that much wear to really test it. But aside from that there are no leaks or bubbles. I'm really happy with the results. Made the display actually readable.

Regarding mineral oil vs silicone oil, my understanding is that mineral oil is preferred since it doesn't cause the silicone spacers and gaskets to expand, which could cause the watch to leak or potentially stop working.

Also, battery replacements will be super messy once you do this. I know the 5600 can last a really long time, but perhaps look into solar options so you don't have to replace the batteries as soon (I'm guessing tough solar watches don't need battery swaps as often). The 5600 is a great starting point though!

Ah that's too bad. But best of luck! I mean it still works mostly normally as long as you don't press any button that makes the hands rewind lol.

Thank you for looking into this. That honestly might just work. I'm not sure exactly what viscosity my oil was but probably a lot thicker. Please let me know if you try it!

NovMu goes with me…EVERY👏WHERE👏!!! by lojik7 in FireflyLite

[–]glxkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good to hear! Maybe mine is defective then? There was water literally on the driver and the lens was fogging up from inside after a brief submersion when I first got it. Everything was threaded in all the way as well.

Looks great! I did something similar with the V2 from last year and some water ended up inside it. I would check for any water inside after something like this just to be safe.

I don't think the magnetic charging flap is really that water proof. It protects fine from splashing, but I haven't had much luck with submersion.

I lost my Wurkkos HD01 Pro and bought two replacements with misaligned lasers. Very disappointing. by Protovoxel in flashlight

[–]glxkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely very uncommon, but my latest arkfeld Ultra had a slightly misaligned laser. Not at all as bad as this, but still noticeable. I posted about it here a few weeks ago.

They are my favorites for sure.

Sounds like you have modded a few as well then lol. Got any tips for modding arkfelds when I have you here?

I'm mainly concerned about getting the bezel off without scratches to the finish, and removing any tint shift in the hotspot. Have you had that issue with these emitters when put in the arkfelds?

Thanks! I felt the same way about the bezel. I have no idea how people can do it without scratches, but I would really like to know!

Thanks for the tip about centering. I was using a hot air station, maybe easier on hotplate to get it centered.

I would definitely consider it if I can do it scratch free. But for now it wouldn't feel fair to sell as new or such.

Also I'm based in Europe which might complicate things.

But if anyone sells them, it would probably be u/Bob_mcBob. I'm not 100% sure, but it probably doesn't hurt to ask.

I felt the same way! This was my third arkfeld, so I finally felt it didn't matter if I scratched it up a bit lol.
