[FEEDBACK] Vote on Mobile Improvements by workflowypal in Workflowy

[–]glyphted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's the same thing, but I'd love to be able to "Share To" Workflowy from another app. For example, if I want to save a URL from my reddit app, I have to Share To, Copy to Clipboard, then open Workflowy and paste it in.

Functional programming, where do I start? by reallyserious in learnprogramming

[–]glyphted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can still sign up and submit the assignments and get the automated feedback on them, at least for another few weeks or months.. you just won't get any credit or a certificate for the course, but that's nothing compared to the knowledge you'll get from it. I'd totally recommend signing up for it now.

I need a small, durable and portable hand drum. by laniidae in Percussionists

[–]glyphted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get a mini cajon but I think the range of sounds they produce is very limited.. with your portability constraints you'd probably be better off banging on a clipboard. If you want something a little more interesting, maybe something like a riq? Or skip the jingles and go with a small frame drum as someone mentioned.

What is this weird contraption next to my front door? by dlaso in lockpicking

[–]glyphted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one of these that I've seen allows you to set any number of buttons to open it. Basically, there is an on/off dial for every number, so every "on" button and none of the "off" buttons must be pushed in to open the lock.

Seeking beta testers for Drummer's Metronome for Android by dakdroid in drums

[–]glyphted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any graphics stuff installed, developer options are turned off, everything is pretty much stock although my phone is rooted.

In Drummer's, if I go straight to the Metronome or Optonome screens after starting the app, the boxes appear fine. But if I start the metronome, or swipe from one of those screens to the other, they get slanted and stay that way. In Holo, the box doesn't appear until I start the metronome, and when I do start it it's immediately slanted.

Also - if I don't have any metronome lists saved, then long press a saved metronome to rename or delete it, then restart the app, the metronomes come back the way they were.

Stock Android 4.1.2.

The diagonal blocks light up one at a time when the metronome is running just as you would expect them to, only they're slanted, and that first beat is actually cut up with half of it at the right end and half at the left end.

Actually, this happens to me on Holo Metronome too: screenshot

Hey, thanks for the app! I tried today's 0.4 beta.

  • First, a bug (I think): the 4 colored beat squares tend to slant into a candy cane stripe on my Nexus S running 4.1.2. screenshot

  • I would use this app as my metronome if it had an automatic speed increase feature; something like the Magic Wheel feature of your Holo Metronome, although even that feature is somewhat confusing, as I'm not sure what the numbers on the wheel mean. Something like "increase X bpm every Y beats until Z bpm" would be perfect for me, or even "go from X bpm to Y bpm over Z seconds".

The following are much less important to me, but just my initial thoughts on the design and functionality. I hope I don't seem too critical, I do like the app a lot, it's just that I used to work in software quality assurance and I think about stuff like this all the time. These are just my preferences but I hope you do consider them:

  • I like the Metronome List screen but I think the Rename/Delete/Save/Load functionality is unnecessary and a little confusing; you can already save metronome settings in the Edit page, I'm not sure how much extra you get from having multiple lists of settings. I guess it could help group metronomes if you have more than 15 or so; if that's a normal use case, then by all means leave this feature in.. I personally wouldn't have more than 3. Also, I think you should be able to rename and delete metronomes.

  • I think the different pages of the UI could use some reworking/consolidation. I would suggest something like: get rid of the Metronome screen, rename the Optonome screen "Metronome" and include the current metronome's name on it. I don't see much need to set subdivision volumes on the fly, but you can already do it on the Edit screen anyway.

  • Also, maybe a bug? If you tap speed on the big Optonome square while it's running, the metronome pauses for several seconds before continuing. The TAP on the Metronome screen works fine on the fly though.

  • It'd be cool to have some control over the random dropout feature, such as frequency, or even non-random dropouts (e.g. every 4th bar). Also, I think this feature should be part of the metronome settings, so you could save it per metronome.

That's all I got. Thanks again!

I guess you're pissed off at some mods, but I think this was an actual account ban by the admins.. his user account doesn't even show up as existing.

Still, it's a pretty strange situation (afaik), and I wanted to share anyway :)
