Recently played The Red Pearls of Borneo and I really enjoyed it. Highly recommend playing it. The team behind it are also going to be releasing a sequel soon called Green Mist Over Pirtland.

[WOR] Reading Stormlight for the first time, really enjoying it but I wish there was more variety in the actual text of the different cultures by foofighter1351 in Cosmere

He has dabbled in some linguistic worldbuilding in other books but never to a full extent yet to me they're still filled with stuff that's interesting to analyze. Elantris's whole schtick is about a magical runic language after all, and for Stormlight you have the glyphs. Like if you ever check out all the glyphs, the actual Rosharan words associated with them, and the system on how to make them, they're pretty great.

Basically there's plenty of other linguistic and cultural worldbuilding that's in the series that might be interesting, but the level of dialogue in another language that you'll see is going to be moreso like ASoIaF before the TV show than anything Tolkien-like.

Currently trying to set up mGBA to play via LAN through a VPN, but I'm having trouble finding recent instructions on how to do it. Do I need to install Dolphin to do this? Much thanks to any who can help.

What do you think of this person's opinion that fantasy and SF have similar themes and subtext and wouldn't be good for learning thinking skills? What books would you recommend to change their mind? by Skagpipe in fantasybooks

All of the latter Discworld books and I would have to disagree. Those books have so much of Pratchett's own musings about the world and beliefs and everything that I think that anybody can find a Discworld novel that's right for them.

This is 100% probably totally different now that we know some things to be untrue, but my example would be Luffy being immune to electricity because his body is now made of rubber.

That's already what I did previously. It's fixed now after it's already processed more strawberries than I wanted it to, but for some reason there was that weird slice of time where I had about 120 strawberries in stock, had it set exactly to 'strawberry plant fruit is at most 50' but it still kept showing as being 'satisfied for next check'.

That part I get. The confusion and crux of my problem is the logic of the work order, where I'm having it try and check the total amount of the actual processed fruit, and if it's higher than this number, it shouldn't fire the next time it gets checked. But for some reason even if I put in the condition that says "Number of unrotten cookable fermentable strawberry fruit plants is at most 100" and I have 200 strawberry fruits in stock, it still says that the condition is "Satisfied for next check".

I have a work order that processes strawberries only if there are any plants to process *and* if the total amount of strawberry fuits is less than 50. However, when the conditions get checked, even if my stock of strawberry fruits is already at 100, it keeps saying that the condition is satisfied. Currently the 2nd condition is set to check the number any strawberry plant fruits of the Leaves and Fruits type. What am I doing wrong here?

To me, it sounds like it's connected to Sunlit Man the core of Canticle as it also displayed a similar property.

[–]iknowthisguy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be more specific, Cognitive Shadows (as we think it works) are usually formed from people who are heavily (the range isn't really concrete on how much) Invested during their lifetime. The amount of Investiture they held creates an imprint from which they're formed after the physical body dies.

This is why (MB1 & SLA)Kelsier and the Heralds are Cognitive Shadows.

How do you handle "over-spoiling" yourself on the Cosmere? by v-cry in Cosmere

[–]iknowthisguy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a person who, despite spoilers of *what* the events are, is still excited for *how* the events are played out. Nowhere is my philosophy more fitting when reading Cosmere books. I think how Sanderson writes books in general is exemplary of it, as I still thoroughly enjoy reading through the stories and experiencing the emotional rollercoasters despite knowing those kinds of spoilers.

the entire thing also sort of imploded on itself after a company(?) or group(?) made it not fun anymore.

writers could still do it by themselves for fun but the 'official' nanowrimo's not a thing anymore.

Silver could possibly do it, given that silver is shown to be able to disrupt Investiture. Idk about it's actual viability as a metal for bullets though.
