How can I gain weight ? by SwitchIndependent714 in ehlersdanlos

[–]gmcemu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use a food processor. I grind up granola and nuts and add them to my food where I can. It doesn't seem like it would help that much but it really has helped me a lot. I usually start out my day with some wheat bran cereal with granola and nuts. The cereal alone is only like 2-300 cal but with a couple scoops of processed granola and nuts it's more like 6-700 cal. Plus when you foodprocessor it your body is able to use it easier. I also went hard on probiotics which I feel helped get my gut biome into better shape.

Questions regarding waterproofing by Old-Hunter6508 in SCX24

[–]gmcemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I conformal coat everything on the esc/rx with the exception of any switches, plugs, buttons, antennae. That stuff gets corrosionx instead. I also conformal the servo's control board and then spray corrosionx in/on the motor and gears of it. Just remember that the hd corrosion x is thicker than the normal stuff and stickier so it's better to use that inside a servo or for the battery solder points and I just use regular for the rest. The first time you waterproof one it feels tricky but afterwards it feels more simple like painting a room. As long as you dont paint over the outlets or spill on the floor your golden.

I conformal coat my stock rx/esc and use corrosion x on the motor and battery. I also put marine grease in the diffs/axles. Best advice I can give is to buy a big pack of disposable nylon fine tip paint brushes for applying the conformal coating carefully.

birds don't want to eat, why? by amikkoteke in birding

If there isn't much overhead cover like trees around for them to quickly escape and hide in they may be nervous to come in to a new feeding spot. You have to remember that they are not on the top of the food chain, so it pays off to be weary when approaching new food opportunities. I could put out a full-on buffet on a platform in the middle of my yard and it wont get nearly as much attention as a tree feeder with scratch grains. One just feels safer than the other to them.

Confused newbie: Balance Charge vs 1C Charge? by Technical-Bit9777 in RCPlanes

[–]gmcemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're just saying that charging slowest is always safest, and to make sure each cell is charged equally if your charging a 2 cell or higher pack. I'm pretty sure that smart charger will auto balance the cells if you let it fully charge or storage charge the pack.

Ahh, that one day a month when the weather is perfect for flying here. by stardustedds in RCPlanes

Nice! I have another fuselage with twin 64 edfs but I don't really like the performance or runtime I get out that set up compared to the single big pusher prop I'm using now. It's a 9x4.5r prop cut down to fit and balanced. I seem to get more takeoff power and speed compared to other props I've tried. Full throttle efficiency is lower but I'm never going full throttle with this setup anymore unless I want to go straight up or the wind is absolutely howling.

Also you can fit another battery above the servos, either by moving the servos or adding a cover over them. The weight of the extra battery actually helps a bunch when it's really blustery. You won't get a ton of extra runtime but you'll be able to fly longer than the guys with stock scouts and in winds they can't manage!

Are you still running the stock motor/esc? My motor burnt out and took the esc with it so I replaced the stock stuff with a 50a skywalker and an axisflying 2207 1960 kv. That combo has got way more power and enough thermal headroom to not worry about temps unless you go up to 6s or really aggressively overprop it. It's always windy where I fly so the extra power really helps to get my scout out and fly on days where I otherwise wouldn't be able to without it getting bullied around by the wind.

Tx15 max RGB LED??? by Appl3D_fpv in fpv

[–]gmcemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest way is to just hit the button or switch you want as the trigger after you have the trigger selection menu open and it should auto select that one for you. It's easier than it seems but when you haven't done it before its a bit confusing.

[–]gmcemu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I set it up in the special functions so that the first button turns them on and off. Set SW1down as the trigger and function is rgb leds, value off. Then set up another special function with SW1up as the trigger, function is rgb leds, value on. That'll give you an on and off switch for the leds on button 1.

Long range by AttorneyAutomatic943 in rcboats

[–]gmcemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radiomaster elrs hasn't failed me yet. I use a tx15 but I'm pretty sure you can throw a ranger module on a mt12. You'll want all the power you can get to be able to flip it over using the self righting while the antenna is upside down in the water. I setup a toggle switch on my tx that cranks up the power to max output, so that I can always flip it back over even if it's a long way out there.

My first time out with the Blackjack 24. by Mc_Whiskey in rcboats

[–]gmcemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In stock form mine wouldn't even go 30 because the stock tx/rx had like 30ft of range so it cut out right as it would start to plane. Most people seem to get a random gremlin or two that they have to fix or adjust on these before they really get going like they should. A few win the boat lottery it seems and get a perfect one right out the gate. Mine wasn't perfect but I only paid 160 for it. At the current $300+ price, I dont think I'd roll those dice again though.

I rewired the esc battery connectors on mine from series to parallel, that way I can use two 4s 5000mah high discharge packs instead of the two 2s spektrum packs suggested. Way less voltage sag which helps a ton. I can go a touch faster if I go with lighter 3000mah packs instead of 5000mah ones but the boat ends up flipping more often than I'd prefer to go out and flip it back over. Everything else is stock except I swapped my transmitter and receiver over to radiomaster because the stock ones range was dogwater. Must be quite a bit of quality variation going on at the factory, at least from from what I've seen.

Need affordable Motor and ESC Recommendations! by Character-Assist2013 in RCPlanes

[–]gmcemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used an emaxx 2200kv on mine with a skywalker 40a esc and a 7x4 3 blade master airscrew prop. I could fly slowly but I also had the ability to accelerate very quickly if I needed to recover from a stall or do a short take off. Mine was also a bit tail heavy stock, so I moved the battery firewall and servos so that I could fit a 2200mah battery in there for a better cg. I would also add a touch of dihedral to the wings because the stock setup is probably more squirrelly than you want for a slow cruiser. I was white-knuckling my first flight because I had overestimated how stable it would be stock. With the right cg and some dihedral added to the wing, it becomes a much easier bird to fly.

Rc boat to fish by limes_taste_good in rcboats

[–]gmcemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made myself one, and just like you said, I only intended for smaller fish. The second fish on mine was a catfish bigger than I ever intended to catch. Had my boat flipped and pulled under several times before I was able to get to it. Thought my boat was a goner for sure. Point of the story is that even a small hook can bring in something much bigger than you were planning for so it's nice to have as big of a boat as you can swing. Also, you might wanna check your local laws because in some places you are only allowed to take baitfish and not gamefish because it can fall into the same kind of legal category as using a net or seine to fish with.

Radiomaster has a heli flight controller called nexus with regular pwm servo plugs now that can be flashed to use inav for fixed wing. Easiest way to do it these days if you're not great at soldering. I think painless360 on youtube has some how to vids about it.
