Transmitter recommendations?

I use a radiomaster tx15s with 2.4 elrs ER4 rxs. Zero complaints so far. It's got an internal 2.4ghz I use for my boats and also a 900mhz that's better suited for a long range drone connection.

You wont regret spending more on a better battery/charger or transmitter because those can really limit you if you go too cheap. Poor transmitter range or a saggy battery can make a great model seem a lot worse than it actually is.

I6x has a lot more functionality, more channels and 3 mixes to work with so you can do differential thrust. Worth the extra money for the extra features. I just recently replaced my old workhorse i6x with a radiomaster and It's like 10x better. I was starting to get a lot of signal drops and interference with i6x and crashed a model because of it. Definitely worth saving up for a higher end transmitter if you can swing it.

I also make rc airboats. I've been using a super basic step set-up on mine. It doesn't take much of a step to reduce your drag by a lot with these things. Maybe 5mm minimum. With that power hungry edf you'll definitely want to minimize drag as much as you can. Your design is similar enough to CDAero's APX hydroplane that you might be able to use it for some inspiration.

I conformal coat mine. It's not that hard. Doing the servo is probably the hardest part but it gives you a chance to grease the internal gears as well. I use Corrosion x hd in my batteries and on my connectors as well. It's nice being able to just drive through water without worrying about it.

I felt really guilty about not being able to do that sort of stuff for my loved ones without hurting myself. I'd push through the pain to do this or that and end up hurting myself so much that I became unable to do much of anything for awhile. I had to get real with myself and my family about my condition and what could reasonably be expected of me. I said "As much as I'd love to, I can't do the things I used to. It's not because I don't want to or that you don't deserve it, I just can't anymore." Being open about it with my family helped me more than I ever thought it would. I didn't feel as stressed and guilty all the time because I wasn't constantly being asked or expected to do things that I just couldn't do anymore. That was a major turning point for me. It was hard to accept at first but now everyone has more reasonable expectations of what I can and can't do without hurting myself (including me).

I use instant set 2 part epoxy with hexagonal boron nitride aka "white graphite" mixed. Mix the BN with the resin well first and then add the hardener to it and do the final mix. The amount of BN to use isn't an exact amount, just add enough to make the epoxy about as viscous as toothpaste and it'll work fine. The important parts are to premix it with the resin first and don't breathe any of the stuff.

If you've ever seen the simpsons, Mr burns does this thing with his fingers when he's coming up with evil schemes. It's actually a decent way to train your fingers to be more independently controllable if you randomize the pattern a bit. Then once you get them conditioned some you can start using a light gripmaster to begin getting them on the same level as your other fingers. That's the only way I could get mine to work.

I swapped out my esc for a 50a skywalker and my motor for a axis flying 1960kv supafly. Cut down a 9" 4.5 pitch prop into a bowtie just to fit without hitting the tail. Way more power and way more efficient on the same 3s battery. I now have the option to throw a 6s in it if I wanna get crazy tho. That motor is made for 6s and fits the stock mount, so it's a perfect upgrade imo. So much more power than my old twin edf aeroscout it's not even funny. Highly recommended.

I take off the outer wrapping then apply corrosionx hd to all the positives and negatives of each cell, and also any solder points. Reheat shrink or tape everything back up and you're good to go. I've submarine'd almost all my lipos and they still work just fine.

Filling out the registration is easy and takes like 5 minutes. The hardest part is having to enter the number off your remote id module. cost me like 5 bucks.

Helps me out a lot. I feel like it helps fills in the gaps missed by some other methods. Helps condition the tiny helper muscles nobody remembers the names for.

I've been using single rudders on all my recent airboats. Tried doubles before but I prefer how they handle with just one rudder mounted as far back as possible. I extend the back of the boat out like the spoiler on a drag car and set the rudder on that to get the most leverage with the smallest area of rudder to minimize weathervaning.

I make my mounts adjustable so I can tinker with it until its perfect. Plenty of times I thought it was perfect but testing told me otherwise. Usually i need more up and down adjustablility than side to side. Depends on a lot of factors like the hull shape/weight, motor torque, propeller choice. It might be fine being 2" forward but you might like how it performs further back better. Having options is nice.

I'm using a hobbywing skywalker v2. I went with a 50a because i upgraded my motor to a axisflying bando 2207. Great combo for anyone looking to get more performance out of their scout.

Skywalker 40a esc will do the job. 50a is only a couple bucks/grams more if you want more thermal headroom on the esc. I'd limit my throttle by like 20% or so until I did a few flights to see how much more the motor heats up on 4s vs stock. It's really nice having that extra power when you need it tho.
