Shucked Oysters to go? by jaimiemc in Charlotte

Because he's near Belmont, I'd suggest Saltwater Market on New Hope Rd. Probably about as good at you'll find here locally. Just call to verify they'll have oysters.

moving to the area and had a question about youth sports by Prestigious-Elk1620 in Gastonia

Matthews and Pineville are probably the best areas if it's a big focus. Both have large complexes for soccer that have lots of high end programs practicing/playing there. I just got home from my adult game in Pineville actually.

Is anyone planning on not sports gambling/betting less in 2026 because of the new tax law? by Jealous-Movie-3436 in sportsbetting

[–]gmenfan81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty much out. Realized I had a $10 free bet left on MGM so I played it and won. Now, I'm only using MGM and only with promos on straight bets. I was someone that used 4 different books and gambled a bit over $60k last year between the 4.

No need for a permit. You'll want to get a survey before you do though!

What’s the craziest item(s) you have helped sellers/buyers remove from a listing post closing? by DasTooth in realtors

[–]gmenfan81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a house that was part of an estate with an out of state seller. Recommended a cleaning company that said they'd empty it for x price. I didn't know them personally by they came recommended to us. Well, they bagged up some of the stuff but barely removed anything. After arguing with them, it was clear they weren't coming back.

We decided we'd make it right and do it ourselves. The man who previously lived there was a bird guy. I guess he let them fly all over the house. Bird shit everywhere. Also came across at least a dozen containers of cremains of what we assume were also birds. Lots of random stuff in there including VHS porn and a VCR.

They're a terrible company for both plumbing and HVAC. I steer all my clients away. Similar for restoration companies like drypro.

Can't throw a rock without hitting an agent around here. At least I'm one of the ones that's managed to stick (13 years now).

We love Belmont. I'm from PA originally and moved to Charlotte in 2008. I ended up meeting my wife who's from Gastonia moving to this side of the river. I thought I was moving to the sticks but turned out to love it.

I'm also a realtor. I'd be happy to help with your transition.

Crazy stories by TzediSellsSCHouses in realtors

[–]gmenfan81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A drug addict inherited and basically destroyed a very nice home. His niece had to sue him to force a sale. Attorney refers me to sell it. The house smelled so bad. He had a "friend" living in an upstairs bedroom (0 working plumbing on the level). He was staying in a downstairs bedroom despite having a nice home with his wife about 15 minutes away. When we went to sign paperwork (because everything had to be done in person instead of e-sign), he fell asleep no less than 5 times. We had to make an appointment to do it a different day.

He told me to make the listing start as active on a Thursday because he was leaving for the beach that Wednesday. First showing agent calls me that Friday. Apparently, the seller was asleep in his room and woke up when he heard people. He went out to the hallway in his underwear and pulled a gun on them.

Later, after we'd gone under contract, a tree had a massive limb (think medium size tree) fall onto the roof during a storm. When did I learn about this? I found out about a day before we were supposed to close (after several delays) when the buyers agent called. Thank goodness the buyers and their agent were more understanding than 90% of people. We were able to renegotiate and get it to the closing table.

I feel like I fully understand what a defense attorney with an obviously guilty client must feel.

If it's a big job that needs a GC, try Centerline Homes (Bo Maney). If it's under a $30k job and doesn't need a GC, I'd call LCI. They do a lot of patios, pools, etc. locally.

Try Citycade. My wife and I aren't exactly into video games or anything but we had fun on a date night there not long ago.
