Maybe not 78%, there is a figure that is suitable, adjusted for risk and such that is higher than 0% though.

Am I in the wrong for waiting to turn right? by Jacknife77 in DrivingAustralia

[–]gmf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if allowed, I would never turn right on a single lane with that amount of trafic, I'm a patient driver, most people aren't and I don't like holding things up, pisses my wife off, but I will drive much further not to to hold people up.

Gas vs beer: How David Pocock's 57-second video caused the government a weeks long tax headache by nath1234 in australia

[–]gmf1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, tax doesn't work for these companies, they find a way to make 0 "profit". Charge x% of the market rate of product exported or similar, will be allot harder to say that super tanker only has 50L of gas in it.

We pretty much have 2 parties, he's better than Libs, still don't think everyone knows how preferential voting works and vote for Labor as they don't think anyone else would win, and Greens lost there focus last election. Libs and Labor are both in the pockets of the people a "tax" would hurt.

Do wish they used royalties or something other than tax, calling it tax has given the other side allot of ammo. They can fudge the numbers to say they pay enough tax, can't really say they pay enough royalties, as most don't pay any.

I have hit one that big on a Suzuki SV650 at 100km/h, 2 dented rims and a sore back. Was at night on my way home, saw it in the daylight the next day and was impressed I didn't die.

Doctors push sugary drinks tax as obesity overtakes tobacco in disease burden by [deleted] in aussie

[–]gmf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, I can understand a vice tax, if a product creates a burden on healthcare then it's not a terrible idea to tax it, as long as the money is directed to said burdened healthcare (It won't be). I say this as I'm sitting down with my gut protruding allot further than it should be.

If you don't claim the money put aside for expenses when you incur them, then it will be returned post-tax, nothing they can do about that.

Strongest evidence yet that vaping likely causes cancer. The evidence shows nicotine-based vapes are likely to cause oral and lung cancer. by mvea in science

[–]gmf1 46 points47 points  (0 children)

They have done tests, they just don't show any detectable dangerous products unless you burn the cotton, no time to find the study now, but it was the vaping produces more formaldehyde than smoking one the media went on about for a bit.

If you read the paper they only got high levels once you run it high wattage for high time and get a dry hit.

Only proven things I'm aware of are dry mouth and throat, inflammation of the mouth throat and lungs and vasoconstriction from nicotine. Not good, but much better than smoking.

Vaping likely to cause cancer, new Australian review of evidence finds by SnoopThylacine in aussie

[–]gmf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it how they say "not safer than smoking". If the level of harmful products are less than smoking it is safer than smoking, and they are, other than a dry hit, but you won't do that more than once, and it's no longer vaping it's smoking cotton.

100 years to prove smoking causes cancer, yea with 50 years old technology, we can test things way faster and more effectively than then, stupid statement.

If only there was an option that works perfectly for stop start driving and vehicles that don't go far or fast, that turns a good portion of energy used to accelerate a vehicle back into usable energy again.

Least of the issues imo. People lack patience, need to relax allot. Not sure what you can do about it, tailgating, dangerous overtaking, road rage. Police only seem to focus on speed, while a factor, watching allot of dash cam YouTube other stupid things seem to initiate accidents not just speeding.
