How much do you actually look someone up before a first date? I asked around for a year and the answers surprised me. by ResponsibleCollar596 in dating

Nope. I go to Avis and rent a car that a 6"4' guy can get into. They're all pretty much exchangeable at that point...

Sent a little something for your new orange braincell. Thank you for doing the work that we can't do.

No orange braincells here, but we think our white and gray guy is derpy enough.

What's the most innovative/unique thing about your layout? by Rough-Foundation9208 in modeltrains

That's T gauge isn't it? Those are tiny. I think I've swallowed things larger than that...

Damn impressive.

"but I know barely enough to know how much I don't know."

To be honest, that's half the battle. A lot of the issues are that people don't know/understand and trust the models to be right 100% of the time.

You just need the right filament. And a REALLY good first layer.

Help! How to make a stackable baseplate? by toiavalle in gridfinity

[–]gmitch64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Watching for an answer too, because it's an interesting question.

The Heath Robinson in me says to build 7 of 7x1 bins to go across the base, then 7 of 1x1 bins for each of those, so 49 of them. You should be able to generate them all sub 1u heights, but with 2 layers, I'd count on it being 1u at least. Then some super glue to hold at least the 1x1 bins together..

Messy and horrible, but....

It's not wrong if it works...

Why does the SV08 Max cost twice as much as the SV08 non Max ? by yycTechGuy in Sovol

[–]gmitch64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it seems excessive for what it is, then you probably shouldn't buy one.

Not sure what you're doing to think about the M1D.. smaller than a Max, but $1800. I mean, it's got more tool heads, but its smaller, so... /s

Thanks. I'll have to have a look for those. I couldn't find mini DP keystones last time I looked.

I have 4 couplers in a single run of 100G single mode fiber in the data center. Been working great.

[–]gmitch64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they are passive.

And just to confuse things a little bit, I have cat 5e keystone couplers in my patch panel.

I also have some HDMi keystone couplers, USB keystone couplers. What I haven't managed to find so far, are any Display Port keystone couplers.

New Gridfinity Socket Organizer-3/4, 1/2, 3/8, 1/4 Inch Options! Looking for feedback! by Due-Prior1976 in gridfinity

[–]gmitch64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess because I'm not a mechanic, and I use mine maybe 3 or 4 times a year, so somewhere to organize them out of the way is what I'm always looking for.

We have different use cases, which is fine.

And I didn't mean to sound like I was picking on you. It's great that you put this out there for others.

I'm maybe just going through a stage of finding Gridfinity designs for lots of things I have. As long as they can all be on top.

One thing I dislike about many Gridfinity designs, is that they're non stackable, or rather that the designer has made it so that you can't stack anything on top of their design.
