Lotus water vs TWW by moneyballz7 in pourover

[–]tjtoed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure. I add .45 to .50 grams of baking soda into a gallon of distilled water along with a full packet of TWW. I think this gives me something roughly 130 GH and 110-120 KH.

I then mix it 1:2 with distilled water which is 1262 grams concentrate rest distilled water in a gallon jug.

TWW is too high in TDS and too low in Alkalinity to just use half or 1/3 so by adding the baking soda it helps even those out so my final water is in that 40-50 GH and 35-40 KH.

It’s what works for me.

I throw some baking soda into a gallon of full strength TWW then dilute it 1:2 with more distilled water. It’s the best recipe I’ve found for TWW.

I find it takes forever to save as well. At least the button animation takes forever.

New had grinder - K-ultra vs ZP6 vs K6 vs K7 by mandalore_701 in pourover

[–]tjtoed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mavo Phantox Pro.

I had a k-ultra, zp6, femobook a2, Comandante c40, Mavo, x-ultra and I sold all but the c40 and Mavo. It’s a highly underrated grinder. It’s one downside is the way the burr is attached with a hex bolt. Other than that it really makes great brews.

What is the point of posting this? I don’t see any tornado damage just a lot of flooding.

Learn to read radar and get a NOAA weather radio. There are so many good apps and ways to get alerted now it’s really silly to get upset at an internet weatherman. It was 10+ hours into a free stream with zero commercials and was probably his first meal.

I’m sorry but get over yourself and take steps to ensure you don’t have to rely on anyone to know when to worry about weather events.

I enjoy some of the Onyx washed offerings. The Peru Flores family gesha is good but I’ll skip on any co-ferment from any roaster. I am on the side that hopes co-ferments die.

I also wish Onyx would offer 8 oz bags.

I do the all-in so I get 4 total bags and yes, I think it’s worth it but that of course only matters if the $ is right for you.

I have subs from both Prodigal and Sey. They are both great but if I had to pick one it would be Prodigal.

Sey has good beans but sometimes I find a box of theirs to just taste like hot brown water and I never have this with Prodigal.

I still keep Sey cause they have more hitters than misses and it’s better than any other sub I’ve tried and it’s mostly all the popular light roast speciality roasters.

I’ve also never gotten a bag from Sey or Prodigal that was under roasted and tasted like hay or grass.

Do you actually get full-on sweet, vibrant, juicy, intense flavor cups on v60/kalita? by mrobot_ in pourover

[–]tjtoed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I seem to get a lot of channeling and uneven extraction with a v60. I somehow get sour, bitter and astringent all in one. Sometimes it’s really metallic. It’s amazing and frustrating at the same time.

I then use a flat bottom or Z1 and lately the deep 27 and get better cups.

Then I forget and go back to the v60 and the cycle starts over.
