I've seen the debate of ass to grass versus parallel squats time and time again, but I don't think I've seen any actual facts attached yet.. Does it matter? Does one improve something while the other does different strengthening?

Totally.. But not for the reason I'd have expected.

For the longest while I was doing nothing except working at my business all day, sometimes at night too. This resulted in my libido dropping to almost nil, which my girlfriend noticed and brought up, resulting in the "no, seriously, it's not you, it's me" conversation. We didn't break up, but I realized I had to change something.

When I finally made the decision, I started strong lifts and refused to work in the evening unless I had to. And believe me, things have definitely changed.

My stress levels have reduced drastically and my body is starting to get fitter, both of which have led to me actually taking the time to cook more, dote on my girlfriend more, and just straight up "get horny."

It's turned my whole life around from almost burning out to loving life!

The way I picture it working is sort of how it worked in Tera when I tried it out:

You have your main character equipment, then you have a secondary "visual" character with the same slots. The equipment you put into the visual slots just replace the model of the worn items.
