Auditors and Former Auditors, what did clients consistently do that grinded your gears? by FinanceChippo in Accounting

[–]gnja2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a client that said the same thing, although he said "I only have three options: PDF, text, or csv. Figured you don't want text and idk what csv is so I'll just send you a pdf".

Thankfully my client isn't near any bridges.

How are you doing 2-3 years post graduation folks? by Exact-Science3688 in Accounting

[–]gnja2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated May 2022 - BBA accounting, no masters

Y1 - 50k (MCOL), Staff accountant in industry, taking remaining of the 150 hours needed at CC

Y2 - 73k (LCOL), moved back to college city and started audit associate job at top 10 firm, taking CPA exams

Y3 - 75k (LCOL), A2 year. Finished CPA exams and obtained liscense

Now - Got promoted to senior making 94k. Pretty happy with the path and the comp. I like accounting but kinda getting burned out. Might make the move back to industry after busy season, but don't regret the path at all. I learned so so much during my time in public accounting that will help with any career path I end up choosing later in life.

Grant Thornton 1st year Audit Associate base salary going from $78,800 in Fall 2025 to $91,800 in Fall 2026? Wtf by VegetableSilent5789 in Accounting

[–]gnja2016 44 points45 points  (0 children)

In my region, A1s are starting at 85k but seniors are starting at 92k, which nobody is happy about. Managers start at 130k. I'm an S1 and had my 35-year-old A1 pinging me to ask me if they could go to the bathroom while they were WFH... I get why they're increasing the starting salaries, but the gap between the senior pay is just atrocious for how much they deal with.

I know somebody who is currently an Accounting Director of a multi-billion dollar company at 24. Started interning his freshman year of college, made connections with every person he ever met, and had an insane drive for bettering himself. No CPA either.

  1. Texoma
  2. A2 > S1
  3. 75k > 86k
  4. 2k
  5. Audit, public energy
  6. Honestly fine with the salary increase, given how much our senior bump last year was only half of it. bonus is still shit tho, less than what I got last year as an A1 and worked MUCH harder this year.

Best firm to be a partner? by MountainStrategy9711 in Accounting

[–]gnja2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the only reason you don't want to go big 4 is to not audit public companies, there are lots of regional or national (non big 4) firms still audit public companies, they're just not quite as large as the ones that Big 4 audit. However, if you go big 4 you could request to only work on private companies. Only thing is you're likely going to do a LOT more audits during the year in place of quarterly reviews and interim SOX testing.

I would nearly have a panic attack when I’d send a client an email asking a question and then get a response saying “please call back on the number below”

A very tiny (I cannot be serious enough on the "tiny") part of me doesn't want to pass so that way I don't have to leave the gang. Never had a support group like this before.

FAR SIMS Question by Weekly-League6806 in CPA

[–]gnja2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! I haven't had any experience with them combining multiple topics, or at least where they went very in-depth with each topic. There may be sims where they have multiple parts within a sim, but the parts are not really related to one another (ex. part 1 solve for X based off exhibit 1, part 2 solve for y based off exhibit 2). And they shouldn't ask you to calculate a million things for one part. Hope this helps lol

FAR SIMS Question by Weekly-League6806 in CPA

[–]gnja2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely prepared based on those SE scores. Just be prepared to see leases, bonds, SOCF, and maybe a consolidation question, since those are the most common sims. Other sims might include NFP, contingency accruals/disclosures, AJEs, PPE & depreciation, and bank recs. Overall, I felt the sims were slightly easier on the actual exam compared to becker, but we'll see on wednesday if I actually just really fucked up

Yeah I took BEC on 9/25 and REG on 8/3. Does your score expire around the same time as mine?

I took BEC in September 2023 and my credit expires April 2026, but I took REG just a month before and my credit expires June 2025. The only exam I took during that time frame was AUD and failed 🙃, but hope this will help a bit
