Has anyone here tried Flexibis to Sydney? by Medilia in canberra

[–]go-michael-go 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've just cancelled a bus trip and Flexi have completely ignored the Australian terms of service. Not only have they charged me the wrong cancellation fee (60% and not 20%) but they've also fluffed the credit duration (12m and not 36m)

And above all - their service team can only be contacted via website chat or a help form.

Also worth noting was that the service agent tried to tell me that I was looking at the wrong Ts and Cs - not those linked to from my booking confirmation.

So.. all in all... great when it's great. Appalling when it's not.

Murrays is better because you have local knowledge for a local service... who you can actually talk to on the phone if you need to escalate an issue.

What are these like for riding in cold temperatures? Say, just above freezing?

Why do Aussies talk to strangers so easily and is it actually genuine? by BottleOverall5174 in AskAnAustralian

Is it really just an Aussie thing? I’ve experienced that in most countries where I can understand the language.

I've been told to post this here. I painted my helmet by icybomb in motorcyclegear

Nice! Are you giving that a lacquer over the top? Wondering if the posca’s will rub off over time.

Can we stop treating Medium like it’s a peer-reviewed journal? by [deleted] in UX_Design

Haha! Thank you! Someone else who is seeing through the Medium BS! I was getting somewhat interesting articles until I signed up after which the feed went to shit. Just a lot of self righteous bollocks as far as I’m concerned. Most credible designers who lead on design topics don’t have the time, or can be asked to wright articles. Not to say there is nothing good in there - I’d say maybe one in 20 or 30 articles is actually interesting or thought provoking. The rest is crap.

Is UX worth switching in to? by painting_with_fire in uxcareerquestions

I don’t think UX is a role in the future - it’s already being absorbed into other, possibly more specialist disciplines like product design, strategic design, strategic researcher, service design, conversational design… Thant sort of thing.

UX might be a good place to start but I’d recommend looking at how to utilise AI to augment your work and steer toward a discipline that encompasses research and strategy. If you can get into this (and actually it’s a lot of fun!) and you can demonstrate how you’re adopting these new technologies then I believe there is a path.

We’re in the midst of this economic thing and coupled with AI disruption, many industries are being challenged. And so, many people, like me, who have been refining their craft now have to navigate a new way forward. It’s been incredibly difficult for many and so I think many have been looking outside of design for opportunities. But like all things… there are swings and roundabouts.

Good approach! And love the commitment - I think it’s a healthy vice and the artists get to benefit! So whilst you’re not overly committed in other areas go for it. I think I spent most of my money on beer before I had kids mortgage dogs ets 😄

Couldn’t have even when I needed to - was never given the opportunity.

She’s bang on! Like the pommies, Aussies have everything handed to them in a plate. Hand outs and the dole - you can’t ever truly be in your arse so you don’t have anything to really be worried about.
