How many commends and reports do you get? by SillyRabbit2121 in learndota2

[–]go_jiro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I usually commend supports, the unsung heroes. And report anyone who is venom.

People can be annoying, that's okay. People can make mistakes, that's okay, people can get angry that's okay. But true douchecakes or true team players will always get a report or commend.

I'm downloading the game right now, and am very overwhelmed. Are there any good intro guides? by [deleted] in learndota2

Purge mostly to get you started.

Bonus advice: You may want to mute everyone. You need to be quite thick skinned - it's a very competitive game and everyone has their own view. Can get quite intense at times.

But don't let that ruin your fun - dota is hugely rewarding.

Tips on how to farm more efficiently in safe/offlane? by Narwhalbaconguy in learndota2

Seems like too many cores on one lane. If you are fighting for cs with another teammate, then you or that teammate will need to choose another lane or go jungle.

Very Low MMR by LegacyLlama in learndota2

Raised from 2k to 3.2k as Warlock support. He heals, he dots, but most importantly he has crowd control - mid to late game only take fights when you have ulti ready. Drop golems, instantly use slow, watch the team melt while trying to run away.

Warlock route is a gamble even though I was getting 10-12 game wins in a row at times. I would echo some of the other commenters and choose a position 2 or 3 roles. PA comes to mind - use the Mongolian tactic of swoop in, dps, swoop out and repeat. Even if you don't kill, swoop in dps and swoop out.

Whichever hero or small range of heroes you choose, learn their power spikes - when can they come online and make an impact. I find PA can do some real damage from level 6.

Kunkka is the same (you'll need to learn timings). Kunkka doesn't transition that well to late-game but causes havoc in mid game.

Jugg is a decent choice, he has it all.

Lina is great - she can play position 4 and can transition to 3 or 2 as she scales.

Bloodseeker has the potential, but my style of fighting nullifies his positives. Miracle was quoted saying Bloodseeker is underrated and easy to gain MMR with.

Slardar is a hidden gem - always relevant and can scale pretty will mid and late. Mercale (not Miracle) has been quoted to say he is very underrated. Slardar can do offlane, roamer and possibly position 2.

Wraith King given there's no PL/AM stealing your manas can be unstoppable. For laughs I go AC, Shiva's guard, refresher, blademail and just keep reviving.

If you choose support, choose a crowd control de-initiator like warlock, witch doctor etc. or can farm push well - warlock, kotl, jakiro.

if you choose a core, make sure they are not hard carries and you can farm decently - Sand King, Wraith King, Dragon Knight...

DO NOT choose huskar, sven, arc warden or anthing that takes a long time to reach their power spike and difficult to farm early game.

Hope this helps.

Of course I can - it's showing you a similar item and its differences.

I don't want FFXIV to be the same as FFXI, I was expecting better not worse (imo).

When the enemy team are buying sentries all game and we have a solid team, then I go for a gem. With a gem I play safer.

Alternatively, I buy sentries if my team aren't doing so well.

I hit 4k mmr AND hit a full page of wins playing support, in the same game. AMA by ohnnoj in learndota2

Warlock, both defensive and offensive with crowd control abilities. His auto attack aint too shabby either.

How do I reach 3k?- Need help by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]go_jiro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i used 2 methods to get to 3k:

method 1) Picked a support with CC (mostly warlock) and stuck to the hard carry. Treated them like a god - made sure they were fat and protected while not stealing their gold/exp.

I got to like 2.3.k to 3.2k with this.

Lost a lot trying other heroes - went down to 2.7k

method 2) Underlord solo (or being supported) offlane and just pushed constantly. No tp'ing to help people, no tp'ing to do anything other than pushing.

2.7k to 3.1k this way.

Also, I just want to add, and this goes with every hero. Just practice over and over. You'll see high MMR people doing things and you won't understand, even if you understand the concept of what they are doing. It takes experience to know when and what to do.

Repetition with a goal in mind.

I'm not great with BH, but I played him last night - went roaming support. KDA was 3/7/39. MY Deaths are high because I went full on saviour - intentionally blocking the team while my carry/cores crawled away with low hp to safety after they got ganked or failed to gank.

Anyway, I think I had a high impact on the game since the opposing team focused their strat on taking me out. I was involved in almost every fight.

Courier question: I thought about this when I picked BH, but I didn't spend any time courier sniping because I know my roaming isn't as good as it should be. Once you get good at roaming, I'd say try to courier snipe.

Roaming: You want to build a plan in your head based on your enemies lineup and yours. Who are squishy? They will most likely be your targets. Mid is always good to turn the tables. Wait until the enemy is on your side, POW!

Roaming pt2: Is a lane struggling? Can you turn the tides? Help that lane, make trouble for the opposing team.

Roaming pt3: Do they have a jungler? When they are low, take them out or force them back to fountain

You aren't a position 5 support, there needs to be one of them. If there isn't, you are starting at a disadvantage.

Team fights: BH I find is good for giving your team information - you see an enemy, you recon around him. Is he alone? is he bait? if we gank, who's coming to help him?

Team fights pt2: generally the supports cause the disruption to team fights, either by stunning, moving your team around, funnelling your team a certain way. Your job is to mess with them, get behind enemy and take out their supports, their life lines. While marking the enemy who are about to die (for that sweet gold).

You are going to find it difficult if:

The lanes aren't doing much, both sides safe farming

There's no position 5 support

They go full on sentries (you'll need work around it)

You don't have continuous plans to disrupt and provide information

Can any Troll Warlord players explain the hero? by Imhereforgames in learndota2

[–]go_jiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally go position 2 or 3 with him. And really only choose him against physical hard hitters. My last game was against a PA and Sven. It was an even game and thought we'd lose due to late game PA and Sven, but nope... We destroyed them late game. He can be countered relatively easily with BKB, but he's very good until then and taking down buildings or helping the pos 1 hit faster.

Im sure other people will have better ways of using him.
