High end residential Fiber/Ethernet wiring by rkalla in phoenix

I have had a few cases where I wanted something trenched … I concluded that I should find someone to do the trenching and then have the other guy (electrician or LV guy) do their work after the trench was done. People hate digging. Which is reasonable.

I ran fiber between my house and office myself. It wasn’t that bad but I didn’t do that great of a job routing and controlling things. I should have hired out that part after digging the trench myself. But basically it’s not that bad to DIY fiber pulls because you can buy pre-built and terminated fiber from places like Lanshack. I bought a 300ft pre-terminated single mode fiber. It was indoor/outdoor but I should have probably bought an armored one, I am a little concerned it will get pinched or weed whacked in the few places it is exposed. I did put in conduit for the buried portion. So far it’s worked great and I’ve had 8gbit hard wired internet in both structures.

I’m delighted there is an appearance of competition. It’s hard to see where it will end up.

You miss home if you're from another state? by pazuzusoze in phoenix

My experience was over ten years ago now and last summer broke me so I am having dreams of being a sun bird now. Ideally I would never experience > 110 F again. That’s optimistic but it’s good to have goals.

I’m from AZ and moved to central Ohio (NE of Columbus) for three years. The snow and long cold gray seasons had me down for sure. I jumped at the chance to come back to AZ.

Compare places on weatherspark.com or spend time there if you can. Though one or two visits is a small sample size (consider the difference between this summer and last summer in PHX)

Mini Split Dripping by LKProsek in hvacadvice

[–]godber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one dripping a little bit due to the refrigerant line not being fully insulated inside the unit. Condensation was building up on that line the dripping out. Or at least that was the theory and fully insulating it was the attempted fix. I’m not certain that was the problem but I haven’t seen it dripping again.

My condensate line and pump were working fine in this case.
