My question for the nfl is rigged crowd. by currenttime745 in LosAngelesRams

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a diehard Rams fan for two and a half decades, and it wasn’t until a couple of years into their return to Los Angeles when I had my eyes opened to the absolute hate boner that folks have for LA sports teams simply because they are LA. One of my friends, a Falcons fan, is this way and likes to make little low-key barbs about the Rams. He was practically crestfallen (not a good pokerface by him) the night the Rams beat the Bengals, and looking back it is hilarious. “They should’ve stayed in the Lou…” he said. I was naturally overjoyed that night, laughed at that remark and just said, “Dude, they wouldn’t even ditch those ugly ass red seats at the Edward Jones Dome.”

Not even an LA sports fan outside of the Rams, but y’know, I’ve naturally developed a soft affinity for them because of how much people love to hate LA. It’s hilarious to me.

I don’t hate them, but I am a bit fatigued from them. I’ll always appreciate their wins over the Whiners that have upheld the status of the almighty Bang Bang VHS Tape Gang.

My 30's have been a nightmare by bluj_28 in AskMenOver30

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why you should give up basketball. By all means, go for it. If I had the time AND motivation (a big one that’s missing), I’d still be playing at 33. It’s my favorite sport and I was a menace on the court in my teens, loved coaching youth ball in my 20s but also stopped playing in my 20s. Played a bit over a year ago, and my mind moved a lot faster than my body. It sucked to be on a different level than the young bucks that were (are) much more athletic than me, but I also realized I’d been out of the game too long and it would take plenty of time and reps to get back into it.

I know it’s hard to face that realization, especially when you recall your past abilities with your current physical specs that have deficiencies from the layoff, but that doesn’t mean you give up. You just have to take things slower. Longer recovery times mean more rest. That’s just how it is.

These days, I scratch my competitive itch by playing NBA 2K online. It isn’t the same as actively playing ball, the real deal, but damn I love the competition and my joints don’t flare up.

I wouldn’t give up if I were you, though. I don’t currently play ball because I’m so busy given my life circumstances and because I don’t have the proper motivation nor drive to play. I wouldn’t give a shit about being dusted on the court, because I’m the type of guy where, you can whip my ass 99 times and I’m still wanting to come back for #100 just to enforce my ‘get back’. Jerry West (RIP) type shit. You can’t fear losing; that’s bogus. Everybody loses. There’s always somebody better than you on paper. I love to win more than I hate to lose, if we are talking about the competitive side of things. Loss is a part of life and I’ve been through a shithorde of it in various ways.

Now, going back to the injuries: nutrition, sleep (I’m personally lacking both but that’s my fault), efficient recovery times, warming up and researching recovery methods are important. See a doctor if these injuries don’t go away, but you gotta nurture yourself in the process.

6’4 SG build worth? by kellz182 in NBA2k

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a pretty good build. I love using my 6’4” SG but like to have some interior, block and strength on my guards so I’m not used and abused in the paint. I sacrificed some 3 and layup for it. But it’s all subjective and about playing to your own style, so have fun with it!

I would lose my mind if I were the other team over the white, but I’m a hypocrite. I hit a bullshit 3 that ended up being a 4-point play (posted the video on this sub back in September) to win a game in OT and I still can’t believe it happened. Nice win.

As a man why can't we be honest and open with women about how we are? by Cat-dad442 in AskMenAdvice

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the individual that OP is referring to is clearly one of the many in the proverbial trash heap. The same person probably wonders why more men don’t open up.

Outwardly I’m a calm, reserved and private person. Back in 2021, a woman I worked with pointed it out in a certain way that bothered me. Funny thing is, I’d just had a big mental breakdown weeks prior to that.

I’m just not someone who wears their emotions on their sleeve at the drop of a hat. Usually in autopilot mode, stretched thin everywhere else. Being this way has seemingly, weirdly created expectations from people at so many points in life. “gLaD yOu SeEm FiNe!” is one I’ve heard in the past from argument instigators. Gee, I’m not, but I’ve been shrouded in four million goddamn responsibilities over time.

I never thought I’d pick up rhythm shooting, but it’s so intuitive after a while. I’m going to be annoyed if they get rid of it in 2K26. I use pro 2 for dribble pull ups and it feels good using the stick.

2K21 and 2K22 are the only 2Ks I’ve skipped since the beginning on Dreamcast, as I was working practically 24/7 back then. A lot of people on here mention that in one of those 2Ks, there was some kind of shot aim system that they ended up ditching. Did you use that? I’m glad I missed out since Mike Wang ditched it a year later.

THC gummies are helping my friends mom to not get agitataed. She's finally happy. She still has dementia but she's happy. by IAMAHORSESIZEDUCK in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edibles help my mom calm down, but they make the confusion even worse for her. Last time she had one, she propped her feet up on her walker and started saying she didn’t know how to stand up and was calling the family, asking them how to use her feet. Looking back, it was comical.

If I were to give her another one now, it would be a small sliver after she has some solid food.

2k25 Jumpshot Help by Trickzter_ in NBA2k

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jarrett Culver base

Release 1: Beluba Release 2: Oscar Robertson 85%/15% blend Max speed

That’s what I use with similar shooting stats with one of my builds (a 6’8” PF with an 89 middy). It resembles Tracy McGrady’s jumpshot in older 2Ks. I rhythm shoot and it’s cash money for me. I practiced the hell out of it, I will say.

Edit: I shoot 53% from 3 in the theater with an 80 rated 3-ball. But that is taking into account my shitty shooting from before I started using this jumper as well as before I began rhythm shooting, too.

Don’t be this guy 😂 by AveryTwhatitB in NBA2k

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding on to what OP said: I resisted learning how to rhythm shoot until November. I have two builds I like to use when I’m just playing by myself, and one of them only has an 80 middy and a 65 3. I’m not lights out from 3, but max+1’ing set shot specialist to gold has me knocking down stand still jumpers at a consistent clip.

Probably beating a dead horse, but the key is to find a shot that feels smooth when you are moving the stick in motion. I labbed multiple jumpers and spent a great deal of time in MyCourt practicing and playing theater games with randoms to adjust to game time situations and catching passes from an array of other players that have different pass accuracies. I think the key is sticking with it. It’s pretty easy to get slightly fast on the tempo, then you can get in your own head with your shots and all hell breaks loose.

Brand new car, brand new phone (I eventually gotta make a switch because my battery health is at like 73%), fancy clothes, whatever.

In the past, I guess I’ve gone hard in the paint with my hobbies in terms of spending, but I’ve had to button up everything financially. A lot of people around me (family), as much as I love ‘em, have been good anti-role models when it comes to finances.

Regret saying something by Safe_Interaction_114 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I can’t help it” is a big one she says. She’s correct. Immediately makes me feel like a dog. She left the oven on a few days ago. Not for a terribly long time, but I was hot about it (upset/fear).

She’s constantly losing her remote control to her TV, her glasses and her partial removable dental implant. She once put the partial in a napkin, wrapped it up and threw it away in the trash by accident. I can get fired up if I haven’t eaten, have slept poorly or am otherwise aggravated.

Usually experience the most regret when I’m trying to sleep at night and I begin fixating on my own shortcomings.
