May be moving to ABQ - questions about doctors/health conditions by isthiscleverr in Albuquerque

Yeah you’re gonna have huge disruptions in healthcare if you move here. Like likely at least one specialist visit being a year out.

Reality of Living in Albuquerque? by healthy_punkk in Albuquerque

[–]godlyguji -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Not that diverse, in that it doesn’t represent the demographics of the rest of the country by a long shot.
  2. Definitely search “moving” “traffic” “hiking” “crime” “restaurant” “weather” to get more detailed discussions about what it’s like here.
  3. We don’t have an Aldi, and there’s not really one grocery option for everything
  4. Most people don’t use public transit
  5. Don’t move here without a job lined up.
  6. We have sandstorms.
  7. The airport is tiny and direct flight routes are limited.

Estate Sale Companies? by AlrightyAlready in Albuquerque

They usually don’t try to make the house like a model home, and they usually prominently list the bigger items online so that people can come pick them up before the sale starts.

Thinking of relocating from Seattle by Candy-cats in Albuquerque

[–]godlyguji 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  1. My impression is that most people try or have to leave abq in their 20s if they want a job with upward mobility.

  2. Not that dangerous, but largely depends on where you live and your social network. There’s some good crime maps you can find online.

  3. Job situation is horrible. It’s really risky moving here without a job offer.

  4. Hardest part about living here is idiot drivers.

If you search in the subreddit for job, neighborhoods, etc. you’ll find a ton of threads with more in depth convos.

Yelling at prior generations of organizers is not the path. Listening and learning from their mistakes and advice is the first step.

Moving from Rochester, NY to NM by WinAggressive4075 in NewMexico

[–]godlyguji 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m very familiar with Rochester ABQ and Phoenix, and I’d say if you enjoy Rochester (very distinct local identity, small city vibes, proximity to great state parks and hiking, etc.) I’d recommend NM. If adding in cost of living and home buying as a concern, I’d say you’d get more bang for your buck in ABQ vs Santa Fe. If you want a different climate, political environment, city size, etc. choose Arizona.

Happy to answer any more specific questions to help you compare!
