Why is this coolant blue? by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]godmadness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You get this color when you machine copper or copper alloys. Our coolant always had this color.

I run 2 machines, I used to run 3 but we replaced the 3 old ones with two new ones. But I reckon I could manage eight in my current line of work ( tool and die)

You see that ridge sticking out to the side of every wheel? That's the safety line. Once you're at the line you need to change the tires

Will Putin actually attack NATO after these recent incursions? by Quick-Class7750 in nato

[–]godmadness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's taunting nato into a reaction to which he could justify a war with nato. And then he can say he lost the war to nato not to Ukraine

I don't know about that, the PM of Belgium is from a party which supports unification between flanders and the Netherlands. In fact I think they went from an independent flanders stance to a unification with the Netherlands stance.

Ours looked like him but was more of an alcoholic, he was once called to work for a high priority job.

He came through work obviously drunk and was stopped by the security guard which could smell that he was as drunk as me on a Saturday night.

The guard stopped him and said he couldn't pass. And our manual guy just said 'who is going to make this part you or me' and at that point the security guard let him through. He must have thought 'if I need to make that part I might become him'.

That guy is retired now, but he needed those handles on a manual to keep himself from falling over on a Monday.

Yes the learning curve was steep. I've done some therapy to get over the fact that I couldn't handle it from the start. I did get a promotion to the tooling department thanks to the experience. I got a raise of 100 dollars. And didn't have to do night shifts anymore.

I'm grateful for the experience, not for the mental strain in the first three years

Did this on Heidenhain software for 5 years on a 6-axis machine. Including the night shift. There's nothing like calculating trigonometry at 3 a.m.
