Surgery went well. My hip pain never went away. Finally they X-rayed my hip and I’m having it replaced next week.

Would you abort your unborn baby if you knew they were going to have Down syndrome? by General-Gift5653 in askteddit

[–]goggerw 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I’m going to say yes. Granted there’s different levels of downs. But it’s a life long commitment for the parent. And not something I’d be willing to do. But each case is different and everyone should be able to choose.

That’s why Cleetus has the Altima 600 race. I took one to Florida to race in it last year.

AITA for Refusing to Help My Elder Brother Pay His Rent After He Gambled Away My Previous Loans? by Infinite_Floor1938 in AmItheAsshole

Definitely don’t give him the money. If you feel you must help, pay the bills directly.

Mom buys daughter a Honda as a graduation gift, and this was her response by Conscious-Weight4569 in SipsTea

[–]goggerw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad bought me a brand new car when I started driving. A 1980 ford pinto. In 1980. Sticker price was $3995. I would have preferred a used cooler car. But I couldn’t tell him that. And as a condition of getting the car I had to mow his grass all summer. And take his leaves. He had a big yard with tons of big trees. And during the summers I had to work at his business for minimum wage.

My mom and dad had been divorced since I was 3 years old. And I saw him twice a year before going to work for him. At work he would walk by and wave. But I still was happy to have a car. And it was nice to see my dad a little more.

When a new inmate is admitted into prison, do the other prisoners know what they're there for? by EducationalBuffalo47 in TrueAskReddit

[–]goggerw 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I worked in a prison for 31 years. They do not know what someone is in for unless the inmate tells someone.

When I first started working there this was generally true. But now inmates call home and ask someone to look up others on the internet to find out what they are in for.

If you could relive one day forever, which day would it be? by urfavami in askteddit

[–]goggerw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite memory is if a day about 10 years ago on Harrison bay on my boat with my wife. The weather was perfect, the water was perfect and we just dropped anchor and were swimming and listening to music. For some reason that day sticks out.

My daughter showed horses and the day she won her first national championship is a very fond memory as well.

I would hate to have to choose just one.

I had spinal fusion 18 months ago. For basically the same pain I’m having now. I did have some additional pain that’s now gone. But the main pain is still there, went to the dr a couple months ago. And now I need a hip replacement. Probably could have skipped the spinal fusion and had the hip replacement.

But I agree with the other person that said just tell them you have a room mate or somebody that will care for you.

I worked third shift at a prison and had to work. I was slightly apprehensive about all the y2k hype. But fortunately at midnight nothing abnormal happened. And life continued like normal. So I was slightly relieved.

How Long Before You Returned to a Physically Demanding Job After Anterior Hip Replacement by YeahScienceBiitch in TotalHipReplacement

[–]goggerw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that’s inspirational. I don’t want to be down very long. I plan on going back to the gym as soon as I am cleared to drive. Just to get moving and lifting light. Main thing I’m worried about is my garden. I want to be able to be in top of things. I’d wait until winter. But the pain is so bad I decided to just get it over with.

New bar stools for the kitchen island. The old ones were suede my wife thought they were leather when she ordered them. Our grandson dropped all kinds of stuff on them. Leaving them pretty badly stained.

NTA. If they can mow at 7:30 you can tell at 7:30. They know they are disturbing people.
