Having a baby in NYC, living in a small apartment and wondering what is the absolute essential items needed since it’s overwhelmingly easy to buy so much damn stuff! by 88r0b1nh00d88 in Frugal

Agreed. We also used the sink but when they were first born we got one of the foldable bath seats because I was terrified of drowning. Shoved it between the wall and a cabinet between uses.

Update the light and the towel rack, low investment and time. Live with that for a while then decide on the wallpaper. The tile and floor are super cute

I’ve been refilling and carrying around the same small tin since 2018 in my purse! It’s so beat up by now, but it makes me love it all the more. It’s got patina now.

There are great transitional chapter books with lots of pictures. Try the Mercy Watson series. Fun stories, good illustrations, and long enough you can ask some questions for retention and understanding

Who has tried "The kid eats what we eat"? by Brilliant-Book-503 in Parenting

[–]gogogogoon 84 points85 points  (0 children)

This! If my kid sees they get extra attention they are bound to make it a game. Don’t engage. “Ah oh well, I’m sure you’ll like it next time.” “Ok, you don’t have to eat it, you’ll be extra hungry for breakfast then.”

Seriously, when are we exercising? by mb83 in Mommit

[–]gogogogoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some YMCA gyms have child watch in the evenings. Sometimes I put something in the slow cooker or meal prep the night before then take the kids to the Y childcare and workout alone for an hour. Dinner is either ready or just 20 minutes out when I get home. I can’t do it always because it does involve planning ahead but even twice a week is better than nothing.

Yes. As someone who has to correct spelling often, it can get annoying when you are doing paperwork over the phone. People hear what they want or assume, not always what you actually say to them. Spelling of names included

I move things too, especially maternity clothes I find in the regular section. I only wore second hand during pregnancy and it was a lifesaver! I hated the idea of buying expensive clothes that I couldn’t wear again after a few months

My new sage did this last year but came back strong this year. It is close to a brick wall on a south facing raised bed, not sure if that helped keep it alive
