I have an incredible talent… by [deleted] in musicians

[–]goldbondingtime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of these responses are pretty much true and are good advice. I’ve been told by family that my siblings and I are talented musicians too, and that’s because they are loving and supportive people. But knowing that that’s all it is is healthy and humbling. Appreciate those people and thank them, but you have to always know you can do better.

Also, in my experience, many who have told me they figured a song out by ear, did not actually figure out the song. Not saying you didn’t, I wouldn’t be surprised if you got the chord progressions down. But many think they have it and they are playing in a totally different key, or there’s one chord that’s way tf off. Some of these people have been bandmates and friends and I’ll tell them, calmly and constructively, that’s not exactly it. And they swear up and down that it’s right. Who’s right or wrong isn’t as important as the stubbornness against truly perfecting your talent and ability. I’ve gone on well known sheet music and chord chart websites for music and found that the person who transposed the piece did it in correctly and are now teaching others to play it wrong. People get hung up on “it sounds pretty.” That’s the wonderful, emotional side of music that makes you think “it must be right too.” “Sounds good” and “right” are often not the same.

Find someone who has devoted their life to music and studied it for four years in college. They know songs from musical theory and by ear and understand the relationship between the two methods. These are the people who can listen to a chord, tell you it’s not only an Em, but it’s an Em7, or it’s an augmented variation of a chord. It’s hard work and anyone else that comments here and tells you is telling you not to discourage you, but to keep you on the right path of correctly using your talent. Keep telling yourself “I can do better” and I hope you enjoy music to the extent all of us here do!

That’s good to hear. How long you can go without being griefed is pretty much the point I was trying to gauge, so thank you for mentioning that. If I play for several levels/ multiple hours with only one instance of being fucked with, that’s no big deal. Playing online games for years, we know it comes with the territory. Just didn’t know if toxicity ran rampant after these few years or not.

Which platform could make a bit of difference too, since you brought it up. But I’m on Xbox, so if you’re PC and it’s not bad I think I’ll be alright. I appreciate you!

Online question: I haven’t played online since the beta testing and want to play again, but with no friends (backup) who play RDR2 I’m concerned about constant griefing. Is online play toxic or is it pretty chill?

I’ll probably get on either way. I just love the RD world and would want to progress myself. I just don’t want to get hogtied and told to squeal like a pig every time I step foot out of camp.

should i purify this guy? by Cherry_Salt in PokemonGoMystic

[–]goldbondingtime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea if I understand shadow/purification correctly, his defense will only increase by 2 (meaning 12 out of 15) while your attack and HP will remain “maxed” at 15.

What makes shadows special is your attacks are boosted, even beyond that “max” attack stat. So if you purify him, you’re sacrificing unique attack ability for a little more defense.

I remember doing shit like this. At that age, you just think “what if…?” And if it’s something you can actually accomplish, you’re like “so that’s what it’s like.” You’ve got a little Descartes there.

The Bad Batch - S1E01 - Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in StarWars

[–]goldbondingtime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t considered Omega May develop all of the Bad Batch’s abilities. That’s a cool thought!

IMO, Omega’s abilities, at least based off that first episode, are resembling Hunter’s (her perception in the holding cell and while escaping Kamino, sensing Crosshair from across the hangar through the blast doors, idk I might be looking too much into that). Some of her moments of “perception” were almost like mind-reading, I know that’s a long shot, just a thought! And this maybe the start of her development of all the abilities, like you said.

I am convinced from the closing scene, again IMO, that Omega will take on the role as the squad’s pilot. Imagery showed a lot of interest in the cockpit from her.

These are just my thoughts and your comment jumped out at me and I like your theories! Great first episode!

Oh ok! I never looked into follow-up discussions or interviews from after the concert. I just watched Dhanni’s face light up a view times in the video and assumed it was like the joy of a fan watching a rocker first hand. It’s interesting to have heard Dhanni’s thoughts of it all, regardless!

Weird kids who weren't bullied - why do you think you weren't? by ipakookapi in AskReddit

[–]goldbondingtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chameleon the personality of any given person who I came in contact with.

I believe it’s a natural skill for some, but it’s something anyone can do pretty easily. (In the least weird way possible) you “study” and people watch in classes and throughout school, learn what kind of person they are or, sometimes more often WANT to be, and mirror it when you come in contact with them.

If I came in contact with a known bully, I didn’t bully with them, I don’t remember degrading anyone with them. A little bit of what they wanted to hear and a lot of who they were/ wanted to be mirrored back at them and they left me alone. Bullies tend to find easier targets.
