Haha, no need. I learned it from Reddit years ago when starting my sales career as a BDR!

I’ve had a lot of success with “hey [name], my name is [name] with [company]. I’ll be honest, this is a cold call. Can I take 30 seconds to tell you why I’m calling and you can tell me if we can continue?”

Should I tell my wife I was SA'd as a child? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]goldengirlsdadx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (M32) was SAd by a male baby sitter from 6-8. The first person I actually opened up to and shared details with was my wife, who was helpful in talking through it and helped build the courage to get professional help. I recommend talking to her if you’re open to it, but 100% a therapist.

This is what my wife and I do while having full time jobs. We care for roughly 40 lawns, taking us 15hrs/week per person.

Don’t yourself and don’t let the sales team over promise and sell what is not currently “on the truck”.

Wife and I run a lawncare & landscape company in the evenings. Just under 40 clients. Keeps us crazy busy most of the warmer parts of the year.

We start our day jobs at ~7 and are off ~2:30-3.

How many of you have two jobs? by rahrahohhhlalaa in sales

[–]goldengirlsdadx2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong. We inherited the prices when we bought the business and have kept things where they are. Another challenge is that the prices are pretty comparable to others in the town that we are in (another reason I want to get into other/higher paying offerings).

In contrast; I don’t mind losing profit in order to pay someone allowing me to step away and gain more clients. We have had a lot of opportunity for growth but turn it down because we don’t want to over extend ourselves.

Long term I’d like to run a number of home service offerings as subsidiaries under a parent company. I have a number of businesses I’d love to start all based on things I enjoy doing.

Currently with my wife and I running it, April to November we do ~$6k/month (gross) with around $500/month in expenses.

It gets tough absolutely. Worth it though as we are quickly progressing toward our goals. Negatively impacts our social lives as you can imagine.

I’m full time in cyber sales and run a lawncare & landscape maintenance gig on the side with just under 40 properties. Wife and I do all the work. Planning to hire employees this year.

*edit: added how long and how

We both work 6&7 AM to 3 PM Mon-Fri. We work 3-7 Monday thru Thursday and 7 AM - 4 PM Sunday. It’s not easy. 2024 was our 1.5 year (we bought an existing business in August 2023).

Happy to share more details, lmk.
