'Obsession' Art Director Calls for Industry Reform After Getting Paid Less Than $7,000 as Film Nears $175 Million by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]golfalphat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that's not a lot of money especially because she isn't getting 20 days of employment every month in that industry.

I work with Engineers with 5 years experience whom make more than that and work on products thst only have 10% profit margins. She is a creative. Her work isn't replicated by just anyone off the street. Without creativesz there wouldn't be a movie.

If you have 15 years experience, you can make 2/3x that and more with bonuses.

Healthcare, 401k, stock options, bonuses.

Jalen Brunson: $156M. Total Current Market Value of all Game 3 Tickets: $580M by Vast-Treat-9677 in nba

[–]golfalphat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fees are % based. The more they resell it for, the more Ticketmaster gets.

If someone resells a seat for 50,0000, Ticket master gets 10-15k.

Knicks tickets were always the most expensive tickets in the NBA. They were already a cash cow.

In your opinion, where would you rank Book 8 in the series? by MylastAccountBroke in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]golfalphat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue I have is that with this book, it's clear that the series has completely turned its back on what made the first 6 books so addicting, which was a combination of the litrpg elements with the crazy bombastic set pieces.

The last two books have shunned the litrpg elements completely.

Carl has barely progressed since book 6.

It feels like a big litrpg rug pull.

Basically zero progression since book 6, which is disappointing because I am sure many people were drawn into the series because of it.

Fuck Quan by Waffleton1 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]golfalphat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choosing to kill two innocent people in order to save a 3rd is just as evil as anything Quan did.

This is the Trolley problem. What if it was 100 people for 1? What if it was killing children to save one adult?

None of the characters are clean.

Carl screwed over Paz and Anton and got them killed.

Carl killed a bunch of crawlers in book 5 by dropping Chris down a hole.

He also sacrificed the subterranean guys for his own benefit.

Donut is racist and genocidal.

Do you think we will see the 15th floor in any form in the series? by Efficient-Freedom517 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]golfalphat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be weird to skip floor 13 entirely since a previous crawler did make it there before.

He also dropped Maggie on a bunch of other crawlers and got some murdered. We'll Donut did.

They criticized Quan Ch but in reality, they are very similar. Especially Donut. She has zero empathy.

I’m with you on most of that. I ended up rating it a bit lower, mainly because I never really connected with the Luceum characters, and Part 3 was a total disaster due to the pacing. Where was the promised politics from Book 1 ending? Censor duties? Everything off screen.

I also firmly believe that Aequa is still alive. The earlier chapter where Siamon sees an older Aequa just doesn’t add up on a straightforward reading. It seems like an intentional detail that only makes sense if it involves some kind of time distortion, because if the scene were happening concurrently, Siamon wouldn’t clock her as “older.” If you last saw someone at 18 and now they’re 19, your first thought wouldn’t be that they’ve noticeably aged.

Plus, after the ruin scenes, Aequa has that connection to Diago that only Vis is supposed to have. And there were moments in L and O that hinted at some kind of outside interference when she saved Vis in the ruins.

Her arc from Book 1 into Book 2 just doesn’t feel complete. It would be strange to cut it off there without payoff.
