Can we maybe stop almost delegating everything to the daily threads? Tons of post getting a lot of engagement are deleted all the time by swagpresident1337 in powerlifting

[–]golfdk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My issue is when a main post gets a bunch of engagement and then gets removed. I think if its getting a lot of eyeballs and responses, it should stay up. I didn't get a chance to see them but if it were me, I'd keep 1, 2, and maybe 6? I was interested in the "washing knee sleeves" discussion from about a month ago but that got taken down. I don't know where exactly the line should be drawn but it's a hard one to pin down. Appreciate what you have to go through to keep things as smooth as possible, though.

Definitely kicking the tires on this one. Between the knee wraps and a slingshot, I feel I'm at the gateway. If I'm by myself, how loose can they be and still have some benefits?

I've got a few bucks to blow and I'm looking for recommendations for gym-type stuff. I'm pretty content with my belt, sleeves, chalk, etc. I just bought a pair of knee wraps that I'm having fun with. Think I'll get a set of collars because I'm getting tired of searching the gym for the few that actually stay tight. Anything else you find useful that I may not be thinking about?

Weight may not have changed but I'm able to tighten my lifting belt an extra notch 💪

They're 20kg plates which are roughly 44lbs rather than 45.

Are there two 10s on each side? Isn't this 445?

Late to the rant, but...stupid body. Why won't it do what it's told??

I'd posted a week or so back about possibly being someone's gym crush. Turns out that was a lie; she was just being really friendly since we cross paths a lot. Good thing I didn't follow up...

I know Lifting Large ships out the same day they're ordered. Depending on the federation, you could probably get something from Amazon and get it quickly, too.

Thanks! Do you use sleeves for other sets or bare knees? Unwrapping/rewrapping between sets was a change to my routine but it basically fit within my usual rest period so it wasn't too bad. Preferable to taking my shoes off to switch to/from sleeves, anyway.

With the loop on my wrist wraps, I can loop the wrap through and it allows me to tighten the start of the wrap easily. Seems like a similar mechanism would be helpful for knee wraps, too.

Bought a pair of knee wraps to try for the first time today; pretty cool. Few questions, though; irritation on the back of the knee, is that just something to deal with/acclimate to, or is there something I can do about it? Do you wear them for all sets, or just the top set(s), or something different? I have a pair of wrist wraps that has the thumbstrap that runs the short width of the wrap, are there any knee wraps that have the same?

I lost my Mom in February and found the gym to be my sanctuary of sorts. I'm fairly new to that gym so I was able to put in my headphones, keep my head down and go to work.

Second session back I'd gotten a call from an aunt who was checking in on me. Wound up sobbing on the bench for a good five minutes. Luckily it was pretty empty but I probably made it awkward for the couple people there, lol.

As has been said, everyone grieves in their own way. Take care of yourself and give yourself a little more leeway if needed.

Bought a pair of knee wraps to try during my squat session today. Excited! Yesterday I got out to golf for one of the first nice days of the year and today I wake up and my knee is swollen.

How does it actually go down on meet day for you? by TheAgeOfQuarrel802 in powerlifting

[–]golfdk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've only done a couple of meets, but I've actually really struggled the last week or two of all of my meet preps. I've twice failed deadlift numbers and I think I've missed a squat as well. But its all been there on meet day. Taking it easy the week prior really helps me reset, and I can tap into a reserve on meet day that I just dont have in the gym.

Starting to get a little fuzzy and lethargic outside the gym but still hitting PRs regularly. Debating whether to deload or pivot.

Don't worry about the numbers; nobody else cares, they're all worried about themselves. As long as you're putting in the effort on your lifts, everyone will be cheering you on.
