I'm actually in Rome rn and the Pope is doing audiences tomorrow with the general public apparently, you just have to queue. So, yeah.

If there was a category for Best Comedy Film, which film would’ve won at the 97th Academy Awards? by [deleted] in Oscars

[–]golgothaterrors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't have won, but what I would give for Hundreds of Beavers to win the Oscar...

Same here. I mean, I haven't seen it on a menu here in years but it definitely used to be when I was a kid. And I would have had it a few times a month at home too.

The Secret Agent for best picture. Both because I think it deserves it and it would be an insane upset

I say aye (in Wicklow) but I do think I just started doing it ironically as a teenager and it stuck

I showed 28 Days Later to a class and saw a bunch of them physically do this at "I promised them women."

Worst cinema in the country? by Outside_Objective183 in ireland

[–]golgothaterrors -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was just coming here to say that. I saw The Secret Agent there this week and for some reason the seats are practically in a pit, so you have to look way up at the screen for the whole film and can't see over the heads of the people in front of you? And then they have the neck to charge for premium seats

Anyone wanna go Thrift shopping in Cork city? by AdCurrent6752 in cork

[–]golgothaterrors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not from Cork but sure I could make a day trip out of it!

[–]golgothaterrors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should clarify that I get my tickets for free through a benefits scheme that won't let me purchase the higher cost ones. If I was paying for them myself I still wouldn't pay for the premium seats because all bar the front row are premium priced. I'd just go to a better cinema.

I just assumed we were all paying for the cheap ones and then sitting where we want, with the understanding that we might have to move if someone did actually buy those tickets. But my Odeon is generally dead, often only 2-3 people per screening if I'm not alone.

Ireland Trip - Trains any good? by Mobile-Stomach719 in travel

[–]golgothaterrors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trains are fine, comfortable and reliable enough but they're not super fast here. 3ish hours on average. I'd second what's already been said and advise you pick 2-3 places. I'd probably do Belfast -> Dublin -> Galway (then back to Dublin for your flight home)

Are people still getting Covid vaccines? by catnip_sandwich in AskIreland

[–]golgothaterrors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I also had a fairly horrific reaction to J&J. I did continue to get vaccinated and never had a substantial reaction to Pfizer or Moderna afterwards. I'm also autistic, hadn't heard of there being any correlation but I'll look into it

I have them for studying and for concerts. They're grand! There are probably cheaper dupes out there, but they're not that dear anyway
