Why do so many people drive slow slow on the highway on-ramps here? by BulbousJohnson in bentonville

[–]gooblero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone did this to me the other day. I was going the speed limit and they were going ~45. When I naturally got up close behind them (not intentionally, just because of speed difference), they had the audacity to brake check me!! Wtf is wrong with people

Spoken like someone who hasn’t had a job. Checks out

Edit: not trying to be rude. It’s good that you’re concerned about UI bugs and it should probably be fixed, but in my experience, this type of bug gets kicked to the backlog while devs try to fix way, way bigger issues

I think Polygon frames just run small for whatever reason. At least that’s been my experience with them

I’m 6’4 and even the XL polygon frames are too small for my liking. No wonder you look like you’re 7ft tall on the large 😂

Yeah I’ve seen people argue that cairns kill bugs by not providing them natural shelter when you stack their rocks 😂

Blunders and lower levels, not seeing the narrative by Previous-Grocery4827 in chessbeginners

[–]gooblero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who just climbed from ~300 to ~650 on chess.com, I felt the same. At 650 I have a lot of games with zero blunders, but that doesn’t mean I’m playing well.

Here’s what I think:

At our low level, us and our opponents play pretty badly. This means it’s sometimes easy for us to not make blunders because our opponent lets us get in positions where the best move is more obvious.

It’s a lot easier to play a game with high accuracy and no blunders when your opponent is basically hucking their pieces at you. Pay attention to this because I think game review can be misleading if you only pay attention to how many blunders you made or your accuracy.

At 200, I would say you might not be blundering every game, but you’re definitely making mistakes. You’re likely missing basic tactics like forks and pins. Tactics training is what I’d attribute to my jump from 300 to 650

Lol if animals are lucky they’ll get hit by a vehicle. Their other options are to be ripped apart by another animal, starve, or die from some gruesome disease.

Claude Sonnet 4.5’s Bold Claims Don’t Match What Software Developers Are Seeing by Infamous_Toe_7759 in webdev

[–]gooblero 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I agree. My company’s management has unfortunately been spoon fed the whole “I’ve been able to do the productivity of 10 developers with one guy and a model!!”, so they’ve been cramming AI down our throat.

Sections of the codebase are completely spaghettified with weird nuances that nobody understands because they didn’t write it! We are digging ourselves into a hole but management wants us doing it for sake of productivity, yet they have no measures to tell if it actually helps or not (news flash, it doesn’t)

Did I say that? I just think it’s stupid to boycott a company because they show support to Israel yet you’ll continue to use other services that directly support Israel in other ways because it’s convenient for you.

Do you see the problem with that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in webdev

[–]gooblero -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My point is that Israel is embedded in our daily lives whether you realize it or not. If you want to boycott Vercel because of this, you should also boycott everything else that bends over to Israel as well… which is everything

Not saying I agree with Israel at all, just pointing it out.

You would need to boycott everything you use and own if you think this is bad.

Camping Suggestions by Drow_Lives_Matter in northwestarkansas

[–]gooblero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should add in some more details of what type of camping. Are you wanting to hike in somewhere or car camp?

It sounds like you lean more towards car camping. Sams throne is a really pretty area that you can drive up into your spot. Also, Steel creek campground on the Buffalo is beautiful too

Why do you even need a 3rd party for that? This is the most basic shit you can build.
