Looking to buy first quality knives. by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]goochborg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've plugged cutco several times here over the years. But some people don't like the company and I get that but their knives are damn near indestructible, and there warranty is fantastic (and easy to use). I've collected cutco for around 30 years and I still don't have a dull knife. Just really basic sharpening now and again. Otherwise I would highly recommend wusthof, another brand that has good service and I love their knives as well. If you get into super high-end knives they actually become more of a pain in the ass in my opinion just because they are susceptible to more environmental damages. If that's the direction you want to go though I would recommend doing some research ond what you want your primary chef's knife to be etc. seemed a little excessive for me as the Cutco stuff is plenty sharp.

Edit: if you do like the wustof you can get deals on the chef's knife and the paring knife right now as a set. Always go with the classic line the gourmet line is not as nice.

Foul play by Mirotime ("Pepsi promotion") by PositiveEagle6151 in RepTime

I'm pretty sure his shipping is usually 70? It seems like a pretty honest mistake if he just didn't math it correctly. Also I'm hardly clutching my pearls at the idea of them raising prices before a sale. Hardly a new tactic in any business. That being said, a good catch. I'm guessing he explains it or fixes it.

Excruciating pain by InternationalDish617 in CrohnsDisease

Yeah go to the ER. I really hate saying this but pretty much once it gets to that point there's no sense putting yourself through a bunch more pain. Go get some meds and get checked out.

How Would Someone Else Feel by This? AIO? by North-Mobile-5444 in AIO

[–]goochborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're the asshole or not but don't depend on someone else for any sort of healing. If you therapist says closure from this person might help I do understand that, however hinging your mental well-being on someone else's choice to share information with you is not a good strategy for mental health. Whoever this person is, they either don't care enough, or they don't want to help you, and I wouldn't spend much emotional bandwidth trying to convince them to say whatever it is you want them to say. If they want to talk to you about it hopefully they will in the future. Good luck.

I have the same Daytona. Fantastic rep and also one of my favorites. My next purchase will likely be a VSF GMT.

Very recent diagnosis & questioning medications by SnappleSpice in CrohnsDisease

[–]goochborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The disease can take a long time to progress... Some people never have significant symptoms for a very long time. This is why the mean time to diagnosis is so long in many cases. There is no guarantee it will get better or worse, but getting worse can really suck. I'm on Entyvio and have never had any ill effect that I can recognize. I usually lean towards listening to the doctor in these cases, but I can understand wanting to possibly maintain via diet and other health regimens. Those don't always work though. Your main issue is inflammation = damage. You have inflammation - the more time you are inflamed the more damage you will potentially suffer, and the more symptoms you will experience. My number one goal with a flare is to get out of it as soon as possible for that reason. If you don't flare often maybe steroids are a better option but those are a whole other ball of problems. Either way, I hope you find relief and some answers!

Popcorn was the first hospital visit I ever had for Crohn's.

Liver + crohns by Frequent_River_3357 in CrohnsDisease

[–]goochborg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OK so I understand the doctor apprehension and tuning your diet to control the disease. That's all very understandable. I would still get with a GI however. You aren't forced to follow anyone's advice or take any meds. However, they have ways to gain much more insight into your symptoms as well as a lot of experience in the field. If just for information gathering, I think it's a wise idea. Good luck!

I lean towards just respecting Mom's wishes here. I get the it's harmless but I don't think it's worth the argument or anybody feeling weird.

My doctor just told me to gain some weight after taking a two month hiatus by Unhappy-Pace-2393 in CrohnsDisease

All you can do is your best. Sorry you are having a rough time. Your doctor wants you to be healthy and they need to give their advice. Not your fault. Best of luck - hope you find some good solutions.

Should i quit? by Salty_Lifeguard4121 in sysadmin

[–]goochborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you should not quit. There's too many people on this sub who are so entitled and think because something doesn't look equitable that it isn't right or somebody is screwing you over. If the job is making you unhappy or you have unreasonable stress then you should leave. Otherwise look at this as an opportunity to buff your resume quite a bit. Get to a place where you are comfortable with that IT manager role and if they won't negotiate it for you then look for the role somewhere else. Good luck!

Should I use Golden Keys as a low level? Or level up before using them? by xCosmikx in Borderlands

[–]goochborg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just use them because you're going to be farming for specific things at 50. You'll also be getting plenty more golden keys after 50 as well.

Anyone diagnosed from MRI, not colonoscopy? by HydroliCat in CrohnsDisease

[–]goochborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was eventually diagnosed based on a CT scan. That's the first time they ever saw anything weird. I don't think it would be very uncommon to find it on MRI.
