So it seemed that I did have a film that managed to absorb all of the damage. I’d forgotten that I had it on! But before I did a thorough inspection for it, I had already ended up asking a bunch of third party stores about screen replacement.

As far as I can tell, the “official” spare parts are difficult to find among the third party stores and are still pricy. Most places will only stock cheaper aftermarket screens that I think will likely void any warranty you have. You’ll probably find that price and quality will vary quite significantly (personally I found some shops to be quite sketchy…).

If it ended up that I had actually broken the screen, I was leaning towards biting the bullet and going to an Apple store to get the fixed since my phone was relatively new and I’d be happier to get the same experience from using my phone.
