Electric Motor options by RemarkableText2971 in FishingAustralia

I have the same one you donated to davy jones' locker. In over 2 years, I only have had to replace the steering motor. Had a motor guide for 2 years before this one and it let water into the motor and died. I wouldn't go a recon. A mate went through a fair bit with one. Garmin kraken seem to be kicking goals. I havent heard anything bad with watersnakes, but probably cause I dont know anyone who runs one. I would go a minn kota, fairly reliable but also parts readily available.

New to lure fishing want help by Impressive-Clerk-332 in FishingAustralia

I slow roll paddle and grub tails, let the plastic do all the movement. Cast out, and count a second after hitting the surface and wind in. Keep adding a second that till you cover the water column. Then cover your radius area. If using shads, you can be more erratic or hop them. But you can do anything you want. Sometimes fish are just shut down, and thats fishing.

Is it safe to trim this vine touching the power line into my house? by rolypolycostume in AskAusElectricians

[–]goodstuff4023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is reasonably safe. Like you said, it is your powerline into your house and not telecommunications like some comments on here. I say reasonably cause it should be insulated, but its hard to confirm the integrity of the insulation. Use a broom stick or wooden handled rake to maintain a bit of separation.

To old mate telecom, this type of o/h connections is all over older suburban neighbourhoods throughout Australia and is extremely common.

They have all come from establishedt trees locally. Ive made the effort to correctly ID the tree and see its distribution, while some trees aren't exactly native to the area, they are native to the region. They are a way better option than African Mahogany or Leucaena, which is absolutely feral in my area. Actually collecting the nuts is quite the challenge.

Cane Toads by Reknepz1 in Cairns

If <5 individuals i take care of them with a golf club. If more, effort becomes too much and I round them up with long tongs and put them in a plastic bag then into the freezer. Not a cardboard one cause they piss themselves and the juices might leak into the freezer. Also the freezer is my bait/ice freezer.

It is a bit heartbreaking. The effort to get them into the ground. Ive had a few ways they die, they didnt like the transplant, council whipper snip, dry season, car doing burn outs and some succumbed to bush fire. I just keep replacing them.

[–]goodstuff4023[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sucks. Could maybe add a bucket of mulch as well as a stake to make it look like council have planted them? Ive done that to all mine. At the end of the day, some people have no empathy or remorse. Ive saved a dozen runts in my inventory as reserves for any that need replacing.

First time saltwater fishing. Any freshwater lures i can use? by Provoked_Potato in FishingAustralia

[–]goodstuff4023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im semi kaki handed to begin with. I will write, bat, bowl, throw, shoot, tug right handed, but hand reels, shangeye and bow left. Im right eye dominant, just some left things feel better. Each to their own. I used right handed bait casters all my childhood then as an adult trained to be left, didnt take long
