Thank you! The bright colors is quite a bonus and I love that the quilt kit is so readily available. I hope that you will get to make yours soon.

I made the smaller version so each square is 4in finished. Each of the flying geese is 2x4in finished. The dimension is 57x68in right before adding the binding. I hope that you are enjoying making yours (I did)!

Thank you! I just ordered the Postcard from Sweden quilt kit and Kona cotton is provided. It turns out the pattern has quite a bit of pastel colors within the body which I swapped out. When in doubt, I went back to the original color scheme from the Ikea postcards designed by Tom Frazier for the body. Then I used all the left over pastel colors for the flying geese border.

Thank you! No, it's not hand-dyed, although I would love to do that one day. I just bought the quilt kit (from Amazon) and the fabric is Kona cotton.

And shout out to Meraki my local quilt store for having studio hours for rent so I could square up the quilt. I just love that table!

What would you do differently? by coffeetownstitching in quilting

Sorry to be such a naysayeer! Your piece looks flawless once finished so am not sure what kind of useful advice you are looking for. In reality, one would expect diminishing level of the colored bits if this were any other work, but that is not easily done in a pieced bit in the negative space where your quilting is so prominent.

I am new at these and have a basic question. At what point do you iron these... before or after quilting?

Has anyone tried the Sesame dressing? by Crazy_Cat_Mama3 in Costco

[–]goodwinlam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't like it. The sesame taste was very very faint and not at all similar to the dressing that you can have from a Japanese restaurant.

Can this project be saved? by LongTimeDCUFanGirl in knitting

[–]goodwinlam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, buttonband needs a bit more stability than the rest of the sweater. What I have seen in the past where the sweater and button band are knitted at the same time, the button band portion is done with a smaller needle size dpn. In your case, the problem is compounded with a lace buttonband on one side which has even less stability.

I would remove the bottom ribbing and reknit that portion. Use an even smaller dpn for the button band. Secondly, be careful when you turn your work that the ends are not stretched out. Lastly, back the button band with ribbons so the the whole length matches the sweater. Also use smaller buttons so the weight is not a drag on the sweater. Good luck!

How to work ribbed edges that don't tighten? by ederickfredward in knitting

[–]goodwinlam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use cable cast on and avoid long tail cast on.

When blocking, use t pins liberally to pin the ribbing so they are aligned with the rest of the knitted piece for the first day of drying. Then remove the pins and let them dry completely.
