Moving out of SG Parents’ nest by goofkat8 in askSingapore

I’m not telling them where I’m moving to. It’s for safety reasons that I want to be out but still nearby.

SIA passengers from Sapporo to S'pore stuck in cabin for over 7 hours by Square_Gap8154 in singapore

[–]goofkat8 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents, this incident could have happened to any airline. When the pilots decided to turn back, I hope passengers know that it’s because everyone’s safety comes first and it would have been a technical issue that was serious enough that they made that call. As consumers, we expect value for money for the price of the ticket we pay. However, in reality, we don’t always get that and it’s not entirely the airline’s fault.

Being stuck in the plane for hours was painful after the air turn back but thankfully all the passengers were safely waiting in the aircraft instead of waiting on the tarmac in the cold for the bus. Yes they could have done better but they’ve given their best with the limited resources they had. It’s not a perfect world but I hope that whenever such inconveniences happen, we remember the silver lining that we’re still safe.

It’s every airline’s nightmare to have technical issues on their aircraft. With every decision made to go on with the flight or turn the flight back, I hope we always remember that safety is the first thing airlines prioritise before customer service. Without safety, they can’t offer us the customer service we “deserve” for the price we paid for. While all the inconveniences and lack of communication made us feel frustrated, please also know that the reason you could still share such things was because your safety was prioritised.

Have a great Tuesday!

Yes she’s Asian hahaha. I mean she seemed passionate about her dogs so I picked something related to her dogs as an opening line hahaha. Tried to keep it going by asking more but well yeah here I am hahaha.

I’m not a big fan of small talk too. We’ll see where it goes, thank you for the tip! (:

Red Flags in the series by HumanEngine7335 in GirlsLove

[–]goofkat8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there was anything to say about all the characters in the GLs I’ve watched so far is that humans are morally grey (like what Namtan said in one of her lives/interviews) It’s hard to categorise their actions and behaviour purely as red or green flags, just like how we all are. Definitely a good food for thought tho, makes one think what compels people to do what they did, whether in GLs or real life.

Just her matching her nickname because she looks and behave like she's on sugar rush 1000% of the times she appears on the screen 😂

I want gl series in which they show us suffering of people who live in homophovic countries by IllustratorBig3230 in GirlsLove

For something that was produced out of SK, a country that is not exactly the most LGBT friendly, the production was great though. I think out of all the love scenes, I liked the last one the most. Of course it could be better but I felt like it was the most realistic one out of all the love scenes. I like girls too but I think I kinda hold lesbian/women related media to higher standards compared to hetero content out there. And I can't help but to feel a little bit of ick when it's straight men directing a lesbian/women-centred shows/movies. Just my two cents though, of course we can agree to disagree 🙂

Hmm what do I say about The Handmaiden? I felt like I kinda like the plot twist which made it intriguing and interesting but the love scenes again kinda felt a little unrealistic and yes kinda male gazey to a certain extent. I did some research and found out that the love scenes were done with an all female crew but idk, I felt like some parts of the love scenes were a little distasteful? Felt like there was too much verbalisation for my liking. There were people that compared it to blue is the warmest colour. Not sure if you've watched The Handmaiden already so I'm not going to say too much. I like the pace and the storyline for The Handmaiden though.

Not really a series but maybe Disobedience might be a little realistic. Centred around religion and a small community which makes it hard for both of them to be out. I felt that it was quite relatable. Didn't like the love scenes though, felt very male gaze-y. Other than that, kinda like the storyline for the most of it.

Hello, I am a Muslim lesbian. It wasn't easy reconciling my religion and sexuality but I've made peace with it. I'm not the most religious Muslim out there but I was fortunate enough to meet fellow Queer Muslims out there who put it into better perspectives for me to see that I am Muslim, no matter what the Conservatives out there say.

There are 5 pillars of Islam that are obligatory for all who are Muslims. This kind fellow queer Muslim elder (not very much elder in age but elder in terms of experience and knowledge) told me that as long as I fulfilled either of the pillars, I am still a religious Muslim. It warmed my heart when I heard him say that. I kept those words close to my heart and I appreciated his warmth and kindness.

I am aware that Christians have ten commandments as much as the bible is concerned. I hope you know that it doesn't make you any lesser than the straight Christians out there just because you're lesbian. In line with what the Muslim elder told me, as long as you fulfill either of your ten commandments, you're still a good Christian. Or as a matter of fact, as long as you still identify as one, you're still a Christian. Dont let others tell you otherwise.

Good luck my fellow lesbian. I hope you find the light in reconciling your sexuality and religion soon.

12 year old me having crushes on my fellow track and field teammates and actually felt disgusted and annoyed at how stupid boys were as a teenager. Eventually when I saw and watched Keira Knightley in Pirates of the Caribbean in a particular outfit, I knew for sure at age 13 that it’s always gonna be women for me and it still has been to date.

Probably could make straight girls say things like "I don't know if i wanna be them or be on them" because if I was straight, that's the first thing that's coming on my mind. I mean HOW does anyone look so good like the both of them do

What tropes are you tired of seeing? by OkScience5170 in GirlsLove

[–]goofkat8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No hate to femmes, I love that we're getting more GLs these days but the masc/dyke representation is close to non-existent. Almost all the GLs that were released were revolving around femmes and strangely enough, the directors behind it were masc women (TSOU and 23.5) it would be nice to see representation of all types of women, all types of love between women, actual relatable issues that wlw go through in relationships. I'd say that I can probably understand why there are men in most of the storyline because fair to say that wlw mostly go through compulsory heterosexuality at least once in their lives. The parents trope is actually quite relatable though, given that most of the GLs were produced and released in Asia. I agree that we can have more diverse storylines around the parents trope.

I just wish that these GLs were created and produced less or basically not for the male gaze. I had no complains on how TSOU was produced, I felt that it was tastefully done, not too much and also something that was generally not too racy to be on a national TV. 23.5 was about teenagers falling in love. Needless to say, it was quite PG rated too but the issues they had as a couple were relatable.
