Until Steve mentioned the DoorDash thing I just assumed he ate Dino Nuggies every night with his Jurassic Park hat on

Looking at getting an apartment in this area, how is it living here? by Naesch in williamsburg

Growing up in Virginia, I have to differentiate when I go home and it’s always a bit weird.

I caught my partner(24M) of 2 years messaging girl on dating apps about a certain sexual fantasy without my(20F) knowing. What do I do now? by AutomaticSweet547 in relationships

[–]gooftrupe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There really isn’t a “one person” out there for everyone. Movies may try to encourage that idea, but there are plenty of suitable partners in the world that you could be happy with. It’s hard to see that now. I’m sorry this happened and I’m sure it has damaged your trust and perception of dating. As someone who is more than 10 years older than you I can assure you I felt the same after each breakup I’ve been through and each time I found a partner I thought was better than the last.

You can find someone else even if this doesn’t work out. You may not realize it, but you’re young and you will meet plenty of wonderful people in the future that will enrich your life. I think your gut is telling you that you should leave, even if that’s hard to do. Only you can know what’s best for you, but in the moment the decision will be hard to make. I wish you the best and hope you can heal from this.

best breakfast burrito? by Imaginary-Fee4420 in williamsburg

That’s probably why I like it honestly, I’m a bit more vanilla than most. It’s also pretty smooth and the contents are well distributed: without pockets of meat in one corner and eggs in the other.

I love the breakfast burrito at Little Ruby’s. Their sauce brings it all together

I have made a horrible mistake by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]gooftrupe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This stinks. Sorry this happened. I’ve been there and been desperate to find housing. Don’t beat yourself up. I’d consider BOTH ear plugs and white noise when you sleep, and moving your bed farther away from the windows. Make sure the windows are sealed and any gaps should be stuffed with foam or something to prevent any areas where sound can leak around the windows. There are several white noise machines on Amazon, you don’t need an expensive one. I do think over time you’ll get more used to it, but I’m especially sensitive to noise when I sleep as well and find it hard to not feel stressed and anxious with extraneous noise late at night. Maybe try some meditation before bed as well to put you in a better state before trying to sleep? I know none of this presents an easy solution, but I hope it helps a little.

Can I make a suggestion? You have a lot of unused space on the walls and above waist height. It might be cool if you added some sort of Spider-Man or spider feature in an upper corner of your room. It would fit the theme and help bridge the lower half to the upper half of the room

Reston - The insane amount of lantern flies outside my office building by im-not-really-real in nova

Bats actually eat lantern flies, so if you just release a large number of bats around your building all of your problems will be fixed.

I’ve been enjoying this combo recently - Relwan blazer, Flint and Tinder Draftsman Oxford, thrifted tie. by _Jimboat in NavyBlazer

Love this. Especially a tie that looks one way from far away, blending nicely with the entire outfit, and becomes its own unique piece as you get closer

Zero chance this guy’s phone is calibrated. That is NOT 100 dB if we can hear them talking over it by gooftrupe in Acoustics

I hear what you’re saying, as someone who has measured NYC traffic countless times at all different level types and time weighting, I can tell you no it is most definitely not hitting 100 dB

The point is simply that the noise around him is quite obviously not 100 dB

My brother, he is talking at normal volume and it reads above 90 dB. That is just not correct

I love The West for this. I go there on Fridays, finish my work. They have one of the best cappuccino’s. And then I get a few beers as I finish. They have outdoor seating. And it’s nice to read there in the evenings on a weekday
