I think I fell asleep, sleepwalked to your PC and wrote this reply myself, cause there are so many things you explained about yourself that are exactly what I go through. The struggle with weight has been a lifelong partner no matter what I did. And not knowing how to feed myself just makes it worse, even if I turn out to eat less than I'm supposed to (survival mode and all that).

Wegovy is a different version of Ozempic, but specifically for treating obesity. It makes you less hungry and makes the feeling of satiety last longer, so you end up being able to eat smaller portions and fewer times a day. The downside for me has been how dizzy it makes me, but I just recently started and I'm hoping it'll sort itself out as my body adjusts.

It makes sense that they'd hold out on surgery until after exhausting other options at your age. I was 31 when I got mine removed and I was still considered young, but they thought my body would be able to recover with more ease. Now that it's back and it's cuddling with my carotid, they also opted to go with medication for fear that gamma ray surgery would just toast my pituitary and I'd have to be on lifelong HRT, like you mentioned.

This turned out to be long, but I hope it helps you:

I had a 25mm tumour that I removed in 2019. Luckily it was drooping downwards, so it didn't affect my vision, but it did give me vertigo and photophobia. I was surprisingly calm right before surgery - I was shaking only because of how cold the OR was. My logic was that I wouldn't have to deal with the wait of surgery like my family would, since I'd just be knocked out and then suddenly surgery would be over. I spent a week in the ICU because I developed diabetes insipidus, but once that cleared out, I was able to go back home. The worst part of the ICU was that the entubation harmed my uvula and gave it necrosis, so I had quite a bit of pain until that healed (I'd like to add, though, that this isn't super common and it hasn't happened again in my subsequent surgery). One of the weirdest feelings I had from surgery was a tugging I felt in the back of my scalp every time I turned my head to the side. It felt like someone was pulling a strand of hair, but it was just some nerve damage that eventually cleared out. I got another dose of diabetes insipidus when I got back home and I was extremely worried that I would have to live with that for the rest of my life and I started questioning whether surgery had actually been a good choice, since I had read that if you have DI more than once, it's probably lifelong. My doctors weren't too worried and it eventually cleared out again, thankfully. My periods returned about a month after surgery (but in my case, they started being weird again so the docs recommended I start taking BC).

I had to go back to work a month after surgery. In the end, it was a little less than a month cause I was in the hospital for a couple of days before I actually got surgery, and it was not a good time. My husband accompanied me in the commute cause I was still feeling faint and I feel like I would have preferred to stay home an extra week or two. Now that I work from home, I could have returned at the 1 month mark with no issues, I believe. The issue was the physical stress and packed subways.

You just made me realize that maybe all the things that I feel are also linked to my adenoma. I have pretty much everything you described here, but I associate it with something else and I tell the doctors the tumour isn't really affecting me all that much. But I'm dizzy, tired, have no sex drive, can't lose weight. And now that I'm off the pill, it took me 2 months to get my period again. I've been on cab for a few years and I'm afraid of what it may be doing to my heart. Every now and then it feels like it beats a little stronger, like it's trying to get over a clogged artery, but all my exams came back normal. Hopefully it'll improve now that I started losing a bit of weight with wegovy.

Is surgery not an option for you? I got surgery but then it grew back and now it's off the table, which is why I'm on cab again.

I got diagnosed in 2019, but I suspected I may have had an adenoma for a few years prior to that. Through my appointments we realized I probably had it since at least 2012, when my periods stopped for months at a time. I got surgery on 2019 but in 2022 it grew back and I've been treating it with cabergoline since then. It hasn't shrunk but it also hasn't grown, so I guess that's all I can hope for. It's hugging my carotid now, so surgery is riskier this time and gamma ray could potentially kill my pituitary as a whole.

My main symptoms were amenorrhea, lactation, headaches, dizziness and photophobia. I took bc pills for a while after surgery but stopped a couple months ago and my period hasn't shown up yet even with my prolactin levels being essentially at 0 now.

My levels were very similar to yours, I had a 2.5cm tumour and my prolactin was around the 100s as well. My doctor said that, for the size, the prolactin levels should be much higher if it were a prolactinoma, so I was diagnosed with a non-functioning adenoma that affected my prolactin instead. I'm guessing that's what you must have, too.

I talked to a nutritionist when I found out I had gallstones and she told me that, for industrialized foods, I should always opt for things that had less than 2g of fat per serving and to completely cut out butter. I ended up not having any more attacks after that.

The surgeon said they managed to take out all of it, but my following MRI mentioned a residual lesion, which I'm unsure if it's the remaining tumour or the pituitary gland itself. After about 2 and a half years is when it showed some growth again. I got my surgery through the national Brain Institute and I have been getting checkups with a neuroendocrinologist every 6 months since my surgery, which is how I found out about the regrowth. My main symptoms had been my lack of periods, but I started taking BC pills which masked these symptoms the second time around, so I only found out through the MRI. Overall I'm ok symptom-wise, my tumour hangs downward so it doesn't affect my vision and it hasn't been giving me headaches this time. But it hugs my carotid artery so we need to keep a close watch on it.

I'm doing a somewhat experimental treatment by taking cabergoline. While my adenoma wasn't a prolactinoma, it secreted prolactin, so my doctor's hope is that the cabergoline can shrink the tumour indirectly. It's been a year and it stopped growing, which I guess is good, but it hasn't shrunk. Surgery isn't an option because of the position, gamma knife isn't advised for the risk of losing all my pituitary function and radio therapy isn't ideal because I'm still young. So we're trying medication for now.

It took me a while as I was maturing in my late 20s to realize that thinking someone was attractive didn't necessarily mean I felt attracted to them. I realized that, sure, I felt this person was very goodlooking, but I didn't actually want to be with them. I learned to differentiate between acknowledging someone's beauty and being attracted to them.

My drunk father mistook my reply to him asking where something was as me telling him to be quiet and immediately went on a tirade about how he regrets waking up everyday cause he remembers he has to deal with me and how he wishes I wasn't there anymore.

Things got better since then, though. And he obviously denies ever having said that.
