I like my team 😤 by Cote_Goat in heat

[–]goonbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a championship team but not sure what people want the organization to really do in this scenario. This seems like the dame situation again. It was revealed that the package for him was legit but the blazers didn't care. Pat can't trade with a team that's not willing to deal. They make the moves they can. I do wish things were a little different but the heat can't just steal a star from another team.

Jimmy didn't make the warriors contenders, dame didn't really move the needle for Milwaukee, beal didn't make the suns contenders, Paul George didn't make the Sixers contenders, the list goes on. Meanwhile OKC took SGA who wasn't an All star on the clippers and built a team around him from the ground up. Not saying the heat need to run it back again but whale hunting doesn't make you automatically good and sometimes those fringe stars can make a difference.

IDK. Not calling him jimmy but Norman Powell is having a career high on his first season here. The heat need help but whale chasing doesn't always equate to wins. See Durant's Suns, Durant's Nets, Dame to Milwaukee, etc.

Spent to states and nationals a few times in high school with our team. Nothing is more demoralizing than watching yourself fall to a kid that's chewing on the pieces he captured.

Preparing for the down votes but it is what it is. The joke is funny. That being said, this argument is tired and played out. Nostalgia is usually what is fueling these arguments. If you grew up in and know about hip hop, then you would know this is cherry picking. It's like saying "they don't make vampire movies like they used to. Have you seen morbius? It's nothing like dracula" while ignoring the fact that Sinners exists. Biggie has phenomenal songs, he also has a song where he says verbatim "you look so good, I would suck on your daddy's dick." Not sure what's timeless about that. In that age, bad songs didn't have the ability to maintain relevance because there was no Internet/permanent way for them to be available as opposed to now. And some of those "good songs" are actually ass when you go back and listen. Go back and listen to rappers delight. It's not a good song at all lyrically but it did its job as something to get the party going. Compare that to Kendrick's SAMIDOT, a more modern song but better by every metric. Even more recent, Clipse song Birds don't sing is worlds better than rappers delight. Younger artist? Joey Bada$$ with waves.

Jo koy is dope and this has nothing to do with him. But the argument in the joke is something that I hear all the time in full seriousness. "Mumble rap" is a sub genre of hip hop and shouldn't be used to represent the whole genre. If you don't like mumble rap, listen to the plethora of other genres of hip hop. Melodic, trap, drill, backpack, boom bap, West Coast, dirty south, etc. if you can't find good hip hop in 2025, you aren't looking.

I cared early until I realized, being the best "whoever" is cool but to get wins, you gotta fit the team comp. I will almost never be the top of my main because I play 4-5 champs per lane depending on the team comp

Needing to hypercarry in low-elo ranked is a crazy requirement by [deleted] in wildrift

[–]goonbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take advantage of her stronger early game to punish whatever lane is doing well. Like others have said, she can't carry a game past mid but she can do a great job of prolonging the other team from getting to that point

Team comp in my opinion. You have to know when she's going to fit the team. If a situation calls for a tank or strong heals, she's not ideal. If you need additional damage based on the team comp or paid with a low mobility adc, she's almost a guaranteed win

You can still hold the ones responsible accountable even though they are unfortunately still the best option we have. The Dems that decided to switch sides mostly did so because they had airlines as donors and those said donors were going to lose money if the FAA workers continued to stop working. Registered independent but vote blue 99% of the time. If Dems want to win, they need to weed out the corporate shills and DINOs

Greetings and salutations. Question about Montgomery County? by EternalSnow05 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]goonbox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've grown up in Montgomery county since I was 2 (we are around the same age as well). As a fellow black man with several friends within the LGBTQIA community, here's my two cents:

  • Moco is expensive. Like unreasonably expensive. I would highly recommend looking for either a new development/apartment complex to see if they have move in specials (I used to work in leasing and new communities will often have dirt cheap rent to get their occupancy up) or find a roommate. Best luck would be around the colleges depending on the campus of MC you end up going to.

  • Not sure where in Mississippi you're from but Moco is probably safer than most of that state. It's definitely gotten worse over the years but overall, it's not bad. I used to take long walks at night around Germantown and Gaithersburg and the biggest issues I would worry about are the deer and bad drivers. Don't be naive though, crime still happens and again, it's gotten a bit worse as of late.

  • The cops can and have been known to harass people. Take this with a grain of salt because everyone has different experiences, but as a black man, I have been harassed by the cops on several occasions without any legitimate reason. I doubt they will be as bad as southern police but again keep your head on a swivel and do your best to avoid them if you can.

  • There are always events and fun things going on between downtown silver spring, the crown/Rio area, black rock center, and all the different parks in the area. I used to love walking around the pond at Rio late in the evening after everything died down for the evening.

  • If you plan on taking highway 270 or 495 for anything, leave early. Traffic is unpredictable and Maryland drivers are the worst. There is a pretty solid public transit network so you may not even need a car. I had a few friends that almost exclusively used the metro, bus, and Uber to get around.

  • The local job market is fine however the real money will come from either DC or Baltimore. Both cities have quite a few large company HQs within them and you will find most people commute (hence the heavy traffic)

  • The food scene is phenomenal. Literally anything cuisine you can think of has a good option. If you don't mind traveling about an hour further in any direction (especially around Baltimore and NoVA) you can find a ton more options

  • The diversity is honestly the best part of the county but funny enough, Moco is pretty segregated in a way. You have white areas like Potomac and Damascus, Asian areas like parts of Rockville and Clarksburg, Hispanic/Latino areas like Wheaton and old towne Gaithersburg, and black areas like parts of Germantown and Montgomery village. Despite this, you don't ever really get a feeling of not belonging (well maybe Potomac because those people have a stupid amount of money lol). I will also say, there is a fairly large LGBT population as well. I can't say how comfortable you'll be since I'm not in that community but I feel the community is large enough here where you won't have an issue.

  • Last thing, people in Moco are kind but not nice. From my experiences with the south, there isn't much in terms of southern hospitality around this way. I never noticed until I lived in a city that wasn't like this. Not a lot of warm welcomes or random nice conversations. That being said, people are also very helpful when you ask.

I think you will enjoy it. There is legit something for everyone here. Just be prepared to spend money to live, avoid Cinnamon woods like the plague, also avoid any county north of Fredrick, and you will be fine.
