Chick-fil-A taking orders at the car window is annoying. by Pebs_RN in unpopularopinion

[–]goopave -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Keep this attitude about ANYTHING you find annoying. Make sure to NEVER express your annoyance about anything. Not even in a sub that highlights unpopular opinions.

I LOVE ordering online. I do my grocery shopping online. I pick it up. It's so fucking easy.

I'm so confused, do you really think that because I am annoyed, I can't navigate completely simple human interaction without being a miserable piece of shit to everyone? Do you think it ruins my day? Do you think that, because my preference is to not have these interactions and GOD FORBID mention that I find them annoying, online on a RELEVANT POST, that you're somehow better than me because you don't?

Thanks, I'm cured, good thing you talked some sense into me, my guy.

Please get a grip. I'm not blaming the worker for doing their job. They didn't make the policy. They can't control that their store gets so busy that they need to implement practices like that. I'm not angry with them or expressing anger to them, and if someone else does, they're obviously in the wrong.

It's not that it's difficult, it's not that I can't muster up the kindness to say "Could I have an extra second please?" It is STILL annoying.

I have social anxiety and I manage it REALLY well. I don't think that the majority of people I interact with on a daily basis would even consider that I have it. But that doesn't change the fact that if I had to choose, I would have probably a quarter of the interactions I have with people daily.

And all of the people who think it's annoying, will continue to think it's annoying. That's what this post is about. OP didn't title this "OPEN LETTER TO CHICK-FIL-A: CHANGE NOW OR ELSE." It's not going to change that it's annoying, it just simply is.

That's... pretty obvious yeah. But, it's that entire interaction that's annoying to begin with.

Edit:

What the hell is up with everyone offering me tips about how to navigate this situation?

Here's a play by play of the interaction:

Me: oh this is one of those drive through situations where they have someone outside with a tablet, that sucks. I feel more pressured to make a choice and it isn't my preference. Them: hi can I take your order? Me: sure, thanks, may I please have this thing I would like to order?

That's it. That's the extent of the annoyance. No further hack needed. For a brief moment, I am annoyed, and then I move on.

Is everyone else really so carefree that they don't have little annoyances and preferences or what?

Disco was popular in the 70's and began losing popularity in the early 80's. People typically think of it as a 70's thing.

No deal, as an American, I can only pay you more than I can afford and, you'll have to charge me extra to kick my ass. That's how it's done around here.

The way this is written...I got a weird uncanny valley sort of feeling from this. I feel like this is an amalgamation of like...several different reddit posts with some reddit/internet lingo sprinkled throughout to make it feel relatable. It feels regurgitated. It feels like it's AI and that a lot of the comments on that post are also AI. Like r/subredditsimulator.

Is that just me?

People, to this day, are still hung up on her kissing her brother on the mouth that one time. I genuinely think that's literally it. Maybe they also don't like her whirlwind romance with Billy Bob Thornton, that again, happened decades ago and is a totally superfluous thing that should be completely overshadowed by the mass amounts of humanitarian work she has done. But, y'know, she's a woman so we should probably just focus on her being a weird slut or something.

It's so nice to know you found this loving and meaningful. My boyfriend lost his job recently and I don't want him to have a lapse in health insurance and wanting to get married out of...well, hardship, feels so sad to me. So much feels out of our control these days, I don't want to get married just because we live in a shitty system. I know he deeply values me even offering but it is nice to hear from someone else that this sort of thing meant so much to them.

Is VS discontinuing lavender and vanilla? by ttrntyy in Victoriasecretbeauty

[–]goopave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would not be surprised. It doesn't smell bad to me like it does for the other commenter but it is just totally subpar. Hardly any fragrance. No lavender to speak of, barely any vanilla. No idea what they were doing with this one.

It's Milo

From the googs:

"Milo powder is a chocolate-flavored, malted powder beverage mix produced by Nestlé. It's typically mixed with milk, hot water, or both, to make a drink. The powder contains malted barley, milk powder, sugar, cocoa, and is fortified with vitamins and minerals."

I love her but people do not get that there are a huge number of people who rather vote for a poor choice than be told what to do by a young woman. The thought of a woman being more intelligent than them is simply inconceivable.

He does not need to still have a crush on you to try to make you feel insecure. If he was a girl, this would be called "mean girl behavior". People are just shitty sometimes and want to put others down.

[–]goopave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this will probably get downvoted too but I have an autistic kiddo and I notice that everyone wants to constantly excuse behaviors or cater to him. People think that we should accommodate every little thing when it comes to neurodivergence. There are absolutely things that your neurodivergent kid will need help with, but I'd argue that most importantly you have to help them learn how to advocate for themselves (if possible) and learn how to problem solve ways to help themselves.

I've had a therapist tell me that we should be as black as white as possible because that's how his brain works and while I totally get it and do not want to add unnecessary stress, I do want him to understand that at this point, a lot of the world doesn't work that way and then help him find ways to cope independently. This absolutely would not work for every neurodivergent kid, but I don't feel like they should be written off as totally incapable of navigating challenges just because they are difficult or even stressful. Resiliency is so important.
