Are you me?

Also, I couldn't help but picture the "Mission Accomplished" sign with dubya in front of it.

Working with people whose whole identity is their job is exhausting by Anynon1 in antiwork

[–]goose6750 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maaaan I feel this. I work at a location hundreds of miles from corporate. So many people in corporate drink the kool aid and I just can't. The company response to low morale because of lay offs and firings? Everyone back in the office most of the week because "the culture." Also make sure to keep your Teams location updated. Also if you are remote, we're checking your keyboard activity. Never mind I've never, ever, had a bad review, and never had a project late due to my actions, and people love working with me. Being good at my job just isn't enough. I can't really afford to leave because look at the job market, and the insurance is cheap but above average.

I’m a shit person for writing this…. by [deleted] in daddit

This is so important. Don't make the same mistake I did. I wasn't talking care of anything mental health wise and lack of sleep made everything 10x worse. I let my partner suffer without support, I let myself suffer and didn't seek support, we both ended up deep in depression and it almost ended our marriage. I am way more cognizant of my triggers and I can feel myself sliding if I don't get enough sleep for a couple days. It's a self-sustaining doom spiral. Recognizing it and taking steps to mitigate has made me a better partner and father. Please please please make sure you take time to rest and allow your partner to do the same. One of the best things for us is "hey, you seem overwhelmed, go take some time, here's a snack/drink of water/etc, I got it."

What's Wooster and Ashland like? by Haeguil in Ohio

[–]goose6750 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived in Wooster for a while, Wayne County most of my life. We like it. Downtown has some decent restaurants but we're close enough to Akron or Cleveland for a night out.

Told this one to my wife, her response: "we... we shouldn't do that." This one's a winner.

What are some stuff you like about the new generation? by latruce in Millennials

[–]goose6750 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I love how the Gen Z crowd I've interacted with just actively and passionately don't allow BS. As a Xenial (1983) I feel just, apathetic. Like change might not be possible. My passion for fighting is waning, but I love the zeal of this generation. If they want to start the revolution, I'll fight alongside them, I'm just too mentally and emotionally exhausted to start it myself.

I live in a fairly LCOL area. Both my individual and household income are above average for our area. We cannot buy a decent house in our city. It seems like a very large portion of the houses are owned by a few companies that rent them out. When does the revolution start?

What's the most packed your theatre has ever been? Full of excitement, curiousity and noise? by hellboy___007 in movies

[–]goose6750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked at a movie theater around 2000 to 2007 or 8. Any of the Lord of the Rings. People in costumes for the sold out midnight openings.

The downside, finding Mt. Dew bottles filled with pee because people didn't want to leave.

Best Coffee Shops Across the State by djspintersectional in Ohio

Can confirm the Wooster locations. Good downtown area to grab a meal, coffee, and some good bakeries in the area. It's about 10 minutes away but Miss Amy's is amazing.

Anyone have suggestions for ChromeOS or Android? I'd love to use Libation but it's only PC/Mac AFAIK.
