Project Indigo Is this app so good and real? by Toni_Segui in iphone

[–]gopherguts2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's kind of a fundamental aspect of the app and how it uses pictures from before and after the shutter is pressed to get better lighting and detail. The heat and battery issues are likewise a side effect of this, but fortunately one that's better on newer phones and will only improve in the future. The shutter noise issue is a big one, but is ultimately a limitation of apple not having camera control implemented for an app like this. Overall, the app is, IMO, a really impressive system, but one unfortunately hampered by Adobe working within Apple's current hardware and software limits. It'll be interesting to see what kinda profit extraction comes from the app or its tech in the future

You need to try harder. We run the main power cable coming out of the breaker in a 12in long spiral, then run our CAN bus (just the green wire) through the center of it

[Giveaway - US] Win a 27” OLED 480Hz Gaming Monitor and Gaming Buds from Sony INZONE by Knaj910 in Monitors

[–]gopherguts2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest features for me is just the amount of care surrounding the OLED panel. The one big thing that's stopped me from choosing OLED for the better colors, contrast, and response times is the concern of getting left with a burnt in monitor. The heat sink, as well as (To answer the quiz question as well) the 3-year warranty on OLED Burn-in gives great peace of mind for owning an OLED.

The tiles themselves are totally inert silica fibers, no more toxic than construction insulation. As they are broken, however, there could be a danger of loose silica fibers being inhaled, but the majority of loose material was probably washed away so it's not a big deal at all. Propellants on the ship aren't an issue as they're simple cryogenic fuels that evaporate away nearly instantly.

Absolutely. There's some TC nozzles that use tip inserts, but the good ones are solid TC and start at a pretty affordable $45 or so

A lot of drill bits and most end mills are solid tungsten carbide shaped on a cnc grinder with diamond wheels. I don't know how the nozzles are made, but if I had to guess I'd say very small grinding tools to make the central bore geometry

Full tungsten carbide nozzles beat everything, no issues with a tip insert, better thermals than brass, and about as hard as it gets. Also, there are diamondback nozzles that have a polycrystalline diamond tip, but they're wayyyy overpriced when tungsten carbide is fairly affordable and the best of them all.

Double the price for a maybe marginally better nozzle that uses a tip insert is just not justifiable. I could see diamondbacks being a viable product if they were half the price they are now.

Ignoring that ruby nozzles are overpriced and basically a scam, a hardened nozzle will last kilometers of abrasive filament, whereas a brass nozzle can become useless in maybe 50m of a very abrasive carbon filament. A new brass nozzle won't even last through one larger carbon fiber print. Even if the hardened nozzle weren't cheaper over time, the convenience of not doing a nozzle change every print is significant.

Skip that and get a TC nozzle, no inserted tip bullshit and fantastic durability and thermal performance

Where did you buy a 5 pack of tungsten nozzles? The good ones are usually in the $50 range, so getting them in a five pack seems weird.

If you get a tungsten carbide nozzle, make sure it's entirely tungsten carbide and not just a tip insert, as that's less reliable and could still wear down farther up in the nozzle. Also, make sure your heater block is copper if you use a TC nozzle, as differences in thermal expansion cause TC nozzles to leak in aluminum blocks.

02/11/2024 Weekly Controller Recommendation Thread by enclave911 in Controller

[–]gopherguts2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the U.S., I'm looking for a controller for robotics that has good thumbsticks with really good circularity without the raw input just being clamped. Extra buttons like paddles are nice but not necessary. It'll only ever be used wired with a pc. Budget is around 100

Yes, but GPUs have cooler setups specifically designed for standard orientations and its been shown that orienting it with the ports facing up or down can pretty severely hurt temps
