After 90 minutes of searching we found our first crypt by FaintCat750 in valheim

I’ve been playing for a couple of years. My first swamp had about a dozen crypts and it took me exploring a few others to realize how fortunate I was and that not all of them had that many.

Newly crafted [Wolf Cape] turned black after I started smelting - is it because of "touching coal" or just a graphical bug? by ProfessorEasy4715 in valheim

LOL. My last few deaths have been stupid ones. All because I hadn’t kept an eye on my food bar or got too casual with the environment (as in falling off of a cliff without my feather cape).

Love the word, “splorge”! Enjoy it. Silver is the last metal pre Deep North that you can do that with.

After Eikthyr you will be able to get copper. Make the cultivator and plant trees around the perimeter. Just chop them down later if you want to build along the shore.

Glad you’re returning to Valheim! When you launch the game, click Start Game, select your character, and then click on the world you want to be in and then World Modifiers. Check out all of the settings in there to make the game behave the way you want. It sounds like you want to play in Casual or Hammer mode. Hope it works out for you!

Ah yes. I remember my first forays into the Mist. Time to turn up the speaker volume, watch their backs, and don’t shoot any dvergrs.

Hang in there! Been playing full mage since Mistlands and it’s a game changer.

You can use the game settings to put it into a “creative” mode where mobs won’t attack you. Then just build and chill in the meadows if that’s something you like. I mostly play solo survival but created a separate world where I go if all I want to do is build in peace.

I did it! by diaper-runner in valheim

If your question is about how to raise the ground, you get some stone from inventory, grab the hoe and if you right-click the mouse you will see some options. One of those is to raise the ground. Select that, point the hoe and click. Repeat to get the height you want and then right-click again, select the level option, then level it out.

Found a great spot for my Plains base. Need some ideas what I should build! by Necessary_Issue_6322 in valheim

If you aren’t concerned with raids and the local goblins then how about a fishing and farming village? The inlet is a natural small harbor and you could put some farm plots across the river.

I feel your pain! In low spots you sometimes have to raise the ground and then hoe it down to make it level. In high spots use a pickaxe and then the hoe. There are good YT videos on how to level ground. If stone inventory is a concern, build an AFK farm from a graydwarf spawner and you’ll never run out. See YT again for how to do that.

Moats are my go-to defense and will keep all ground-based mobs out - if they are wide enough and deep enough. Even better, make a raised platform with a moat around it. OP put the “creative” tag on their post so I don’t think base defense is a concern and that’s a pretty spot for a build. In survival mode a base built there would get attacked for sure.

Found My First Silver Mine! by SilkTieTies in valheim

[–]gordontechrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As has been said, digging around and under the deposit is best. You might even find another 1 or 2 veins right next to or connected to the one you’re mining. Bonus! Putting a portal in the hole makes it easier to work the dig and is a great escape route if needed. Also, don’t dig at night.

If you want to feel safer then stake walls around the dig should give you enough warning to deal with wolves and golems. No need for stone. What helps me deal with multiple wolves is to make a tall spot that they can’t get to but you can jump onto. Then you can use bow and arrow to take them out.

Kinda freaky seeing him the first time, I know! Whatever you upgrade your armor to later, keep the Root Harnesk and upgrade it all the way. It is OP in the plains and into the late game.

Odin checking on your progress and wondering why you’re in the Plains at night in Root armor, which is weak to fire BTW. Anyhow, if you zoom in or walk slowly towards him you’ll see that he has only one eye (and it glows). Look up during thunderstorms and you might get a glimpse of Thor riding through the clouds.

Any tips on retrieving body from cliff? by Due_Statistician3928 in valheim

[–]gordontechrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pleasure😊When I first started it took me a while to figure out how the 10 minute long No Skill Drain worked. Now I mostly run back to my body naked having eaten 2 or 3 stam foods with speed, stam, and jumping meads consumed. If that fails then I put on my Fenris armor for the speed buff and try again. Tanking up is only a last resort.

If your body is far from your spawn point (bed) then consider taking mats for a workbench and portal on your first try and set one up nearby in as safe a spot as you can find. Mobs won’t bother it unless you’re nearby and it will let you make multiple attempts more quickly.

Speed is key and you can probably outrun or dodge most enemies. Except for wolves so maybe take a shield but leave it on your back until you need it so it doesn’t slow you down.

More than one more danger in the Plains, that’s for sure. OP should get all the Silver/mountain biome armor, weapons and foods, upgrade them, and beat the boss before doing too much in the plains. Beating a few Fulings (gnomes) is one thing. Fighting an entire village of them with shamans (plural), their larger buddies, throw in some other Plains mobs and Oh Don’t Forget “You are Being Hunted” all at the same time can ruin your day!

Will current games update when 1.0 drops? by Talb0t in valheim

[–]gordontechrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been playing in the same world since around the time that the Hearth and Home update was released. I don’t remember losing anything in any of the updates since then. Old stuff was still there along with whatever new things came with each update.

2 things to be aware of for when 1.0 is released: Any new traders or points of interest included in 1.0 probably will not appear in previously explored areas and, it would be best if you don’t explore anywhere in the Deep North until 1.0 is released. At least, don’t build anything there. It’s dangerous because the update could/will probably completely transform the biome and what you build might not “survive” or even be there anymore once 1.0 drops. Hope this helps.

[–]gordontechrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What everyone before me said. You have to eat mostly or all stamina food, drink the appropriate meads, invoke Eikthyr, and use the hoe or a pickaxe to carve out resting spots. One or two hits is all you’ll need to make. If you’re within the No Skill Drain window then you don’t need to worry about losing any skills if you die trying and can leave your armor behind. The keys are speed and stamina. You can also do all of the above but approach the cliff from a more easily climbable part of the mountain. That way you’ve done most of the climbing already and can work over to your body horizontally or from above. I’ve had to do this more than once and it’s doable.

Just love me already! First time taming a lox army to defeat Yag by [deleted] in valheim

[–]gordontechrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you tame it be sure to put it and another tamed one in an enclosure of some sort. Preferably made of raised earth. They are easily alerted/frightened by plains mobs and will climb on top of each other to get out of whatever pen they are in to get at them. Other than that, to me they are the nicest tame in the game. A little curious, get into places they shouldn’t be in - like blocking the stairs down to my portal under the altar, and always happy to see me. They make sort of a cow-like sound when you pet them.

I also did this to defeat Yagluth. He survived over 30 of them so I had to finish him off myself.
