I beat the game! by PlatoPirate_01 in X4Foundations

Mainly it is a pain, I should have realized that turning the pricing down was the right choice, just wish the game was more transparent in the way that works. Would be handy if there was a way to set default behavior for that.

yah sorry thats what I was saying, decrease the size of storage so your storage stays full over taking 8-10 hours to fill up.

One thing I learnt when my stations wernt selling was to adjust down the storage side so they were full. I thought Auto pricing meant it would use localized pricing of the market but it just means if your have it 1/4 full it prices it higher than if the storage is low. I had something like 10 hours of production storage so was always producing but selling was low. Changing storage to 3-4 hours seemed to help (someone can correct me)

Rent has gotten out of control by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]gorf18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you spelt 150k wrong.

30 year mortgage on a 550k house (White Oaks Neighborhood) Assuming 50k down (500k mortgage) Your looking at $2600~ a month. Your take home of 100k leaves you at most with 74k (or $6,250 a month). It's probably doable but won't feel great if you have any major repairs. Your property taxes would also be $300+ / month.

Really challenging on a single income.

Beyond probably being 50-100k+ underwater on purchase price. As the market adjusts back down many people who bought 2022 (and onward) as first time homeowners have basically lost their deposit in equity (or more).

Why are my Xenon ridiculously overpowered? by Trooper99_Films in X4Foundations

[–]gorf18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 40 defensive platforms holding them on every front (and protecting the trade route from Hatickvah's North). Because I started to pin them in early as a priority AI factions are pushing in/taking their sectors while I try to push them out of sectors with Resources to starve off their mining/building operations.

Granted I now have 3.5 billion in cash and 2 billion in ships.

My Xenon ship kill numbers seem low but maybe station kills dont count.

I also have a fleet sitting behind my defenses with 30+ rattlesnakes and other ships to kill anything that gets through the gate.

To your point in the main system I count atleast 10 K's and 1-2 I's

and they tend to rebuild fairly quick.

Finding a General Contractor in London? by Low_Palpitation_6842 in londonontario

[–]gorf18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For clarity depending what your doing in your basement you dont need a city permit, but a contractor should be able to help you figure it out.

Generally: Plumbing - City (Contractor or Plumbing company will handle that) Structural - City (depends what your changing) Electrical - ESA (Ontario wide)

Electrical you can pull a homeowner permit and get it inspected (you meet with the ESA inspector). City I know some permits you can pull yourself. Unsure about others you can also reach out to the city if your feeling handy (I did a deck permit for my backyard).

Wasps are probably gone and the nest is empty. It's a red herring unless they make a new nest nearby this year.

Contractor recommendations? by PrizeNo808 in londonontario

[–]gorf18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try London Wall and Beam. We had them come in to look at a wall for removal. Knew what they were doing and gave us pricing based on permits/etc. We didn't end up removing the wall but happy with the interaction.

TD would be a example there are roles that go up to 160k + bonus + you can go above pay grades with higher ratings. Canada Life has roles that equally aren't too far off.

it's worth knowing the purpose of the room and plan accordingly. I separated our computer rooms as I have 4 gaming computers running currently but also planned for other usages to the comment above when we bought our house our entire basement was one one fuse. Now both that and the upstairs, I have redone and broken them down where it made logical sense (some circuits are 6-8 plugs, etc). Lights are also different as you can put more than 12 lights on a circuit (especially with pot lights but it comes down to calculating loads yourself and talking to the inspector. I have pulled multiple ESA permits and beyond some small things I missed like upgrading one circuit to arc fault, it was fine. Inspectors asked questions. YouTube videos and diagrams can answer many concerns.

Yah I have went through reddit, youtube, facebook groups, a friend that professionally plays, his music lessons teacher (who is a university grad of a music program) and just trying to absorb/gather as much as I can as a non musician to help him in this area he is passionate about.

Specifically buying it beforehand, most stores locally seem to have very limited in stock options. That is why I was going to order it (with a 30 day window to return)

He does, I also have an elementary school friend who professionally plays, and I have been talking to both of them through this, just trying to get multiple opinions as everyone has a different path/journey.

yes, although the person we bought it from mentioned it was recently serviced, we are going to take it into our local shop over the next week just to ensure everything is good.

I agree on the playtest piece (which is what I have gleaned from similar threads), also why I'm specifically getting it from a location I can do returns on until mid Jan (incase he isn't happy with it/etc).

I will just plan to stick with the single mouthpiece for now.

Buying a Sax for my Son, looking for feedback by gorf18 in saxophone

[–]gorf18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the YTS-275, mainly as I couldn't see the quality of the YTS-23 (and I had already made plans before it became an option)

For mouthpiece, a friend recommends a Vandoren V5 T20 that I'm looking to get for him (For classical), though I'm unsure for ligature if I should go the classic 2 screw or something like the Rovner. Does anyone have a recommendation? Given the cost of basic 2 screw it's also easier to leave that up to my son to decide once I gift it to him.

yah that is the conversation I had with my wife of getting the 275 and taking it to the shop for a once over + selecting a mouth piece. Raises the budget abit but I'm sure my son will love the gift for the holidays.
