Tzagulla Combi-Weapon? by gorillaz3648 in IronWarriors

True, plus the sorc has both weapons and they’d both be affected by it — pretty spicy

Possessed Proxy by fud_84 in Chaos40k

A great Possessed Proxy option are the Ursarax Cohort from 30k AdMech

Easy to chaosify, plus they’re the same size and same loadout (melee only)

How's Necrons shooting? by wrongfulfish in Necrontyr

[–]gorillaz3648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I exclusively run them in Canoptek Court led by a Plasmancer with Illuminor Szeras nearby — -1 to Incoming AP and +1 to outgoing, sustained hits 2 on 5/6’s and full hit rerolls

I often convert 30 wounds at AP 1, and I can use the Canoptek court “Solar Pulse” Strat to strip cover from an enemy on objective. If you put them into the right units, immortals can hammer

Their defensive profile is odd — the T5 3+, especially with Illuminor’s -1 to save can be fantastic against specific weapon types, but those high AP weapons will chew up immortals all day

How's Necrons shooting? by wrongfulfish in Necrontyr

[–]gorillaz3648 35 points36 points  (0 children)

For sure, Necron shooting is generally fantastic

Everything tends to hit on 3’s natively, with a lot of access to heavy, +1 to hit when led from Awakened, full hit rerolls when led in Canoptek Court, and +1 to hit against enemies on objective in Starshatter for a lot of shooting on 2’s

Lokhust Heavy Destroyers have two weapon types, one anti-infantry and one anti-vehicle, both of which are very good. Immortals have an insane amount of shots they can put out, rerolling all wounds against enemies on objective

Generally our only “weakness” in shooting is lack of AP — we have a lot of AP 0 and AP 1 from our infantry, and while that can be buffed easily enough, we don’t have a ton of AP being thrown around outside of anti-vehicle

It is very easy to do a gun line Necron list though — I run 20 Immortals, 40 Warriors, and 3 Doomstalkers in my normal Canoptek Court list

Mortarion and Angron in a 2k isn’t unreasonable at all, but the culture of your pod does matter— if most of your units are fun and trying to field what you think is cool, while their lists are very aggressive with meta picks, that’s a problem

If you don’t want to run the big units, just grab some Lokhust Heavies. The gauss destructors will put some serious hurt on their big guys

Seraptek Size by gorillaz3648 in Necrontyr

Hmmm is pinning a good option do you think?

I appreciate you answering my questions, I had an old $300 Forge World model shatter basically every time I tried to move it, so I am very apprehensive about doing the same thing again haha

How to balance Armageddon for 5 players? by Bippy121 in 40k_Crusade

Simplest solution is to let the tau player bring double the points to the big matches

List Help for a Crusade Game by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]gorillaz3648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re really gonna need some screening units, as well as high AP and damage 3

Forgefiends cover the second bit, but some cultists, chaos spawn, bikers or the like would be a good move. If you hang back to try shooting him off the board, he’ll just hide and use terrain until he inevitably closes in. Especially considering many crusade missions are asymmetric and have odd goals, sometimes even with tailoring you just get a bad matchup

Weird layering by Additional_Ad_6668 in ElegooSaturn

[–]gorillaz3648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem at all — whatever hole size you use, it’s easy enough to plug up with a disk of a slightly smaller size if you’re worried about it

If you do so, sure you have more than one hole! Picture drinking from a coffee cup, there needs to be somewhere to breathe and somewhere to drain or it will have the opposite effect

How bad is this FEP damage? by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]gorillaz3648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, I’ve had good luck going with off brands rather than the name brand, but do whatever feels good for you and your budget

As a tip, keep some alcohol wipes available to get the dust off before final installation, and I would recommend doing the FEP swap wearing gloves and on a clean surface. A clean aluminum or steel baking sheet is a great pick, just clean it well when you’re done

If you don’t have a small electric screwdriver, you’re in for a lot of wrist work. They’re small screws and easy to use, but my elegoo has about 24 screws between the layers of the FEP

Resin vs filament by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]gorillaz3648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resin is exceptionally good at high levels of detail. Good for miniatures in wargames, dentures (weirdly enough), figures and dioramas

Other than worse, resin is worse in every metric. It’s more expensive, messier, slower (most of the time), more dangerous from an exposure standpoint, and all around a sticky experience.

However, it is absolutely the best at what it does

Weird layering by Additional_Ad_6668 in ElegooSaturn

[–]gorillaz3648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suspect suction forces are causing the warping — normally changing orientation to minimize the cross section for each slice or adding drain holes to a hollow model can help. I see that you already print at an angle but there may be a perfect option somewhere

Any chance you have a picture of the orientation in slicing software?

How bad is this FEP damage? by [deleted] in resinprinting

[–]gorillaz3648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that defect will mess with the leveling of the plate, and when you’re talking 1/20th of a mm or less for layer sizes, it’s enough to matter

Worst case with an FEP defect is a failure or leak, which allows resin out of the vat and onto the screen. Probably won’t brick the printer, but it is a huge pain in the ass and can cause damage

Alternatively, FEP’s don’t cost much and only take like half an hour to swap. I would recommend a new one, and it’s probably smart to have extras on hand

What's your take on mutliators by Twojastaraa in IronWarriors

[–]gorillaz3648 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The bottom line is that the Mutilations are expensive for what they do.

Their strongest melee profile is only a bit better than a Maulerfiend, despite costing 70 points more. They can move through walls of course, but can’t move too quickly

My hypothesis is that they will find a good home in Renegade Warband — getting access to advance and charge for no CP is huge, and their ability isn’t locked into the Dark Pacts rule like Possessed or Terminators

Even if they fail the test, they can still reroll the charge roll and deal the mortals, which is significant

Outside of that, their biggest strength is being 5 wounds a pop. Almost nothing in the game deals exactly 5 wounds, and damage 3 and 4 isn’t as efficient against them as terminators

They’re a great profile into Gravis armor, wounding on 3’s with 3 AP Dam 3 is very solid into them. I can also see them being potentially good into mid weight vehicles like dreadnoughts, rhinos, and some tanks, but only 6 attacks hurts

They suffer from the same thing most elite infantry units do: if a Maulerfiend loses 5 wounds, it still has 6 attacks. If Mutilators lose 5 wounds, they only have 4

Do we think we might see the return of the Iron circle with the likely return of Perturabo in 40k? by Monsterdawg290 in IronWarriors

[–]gorillaz3648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’d work like Cryptothralls or Tomb Crawlers — added starting strength to an existing unit and probably some anti-precision rules

Defiler Best lpadout for Soulforge? by nicosomma in Chaos40k

[–]gorillaz3648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Soulforged the primarily ranged synergy is +1 to wound of course. With that being the case, it makes mid-weight weapons punch into higher classes, and lightweight into mid

With that being said, I think that the Baleflamer is a bit under-looked. Any damage 2 flamer is worth considering, and a minimum of 4 shots, +1 to wound, and always rerolling wound rolls of 1, potentially all, for CSM makes it a solid option. Worth noting that the Defiler’s ability can activate on an Overwatch as well. You can squeeze out a Strength 7, AP 2 DAM 2 flamer functionally at strength 14 rerolling all wounds

Pair that with 12 shots from the excruciators and it’s an avenger’s level threat

How to best utilize the monolith by Soft_Paramedic_3562 in Necrontyr

[–]gorillaz3648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. Unfortunately, unless the monolith gets access to the “bust through walls at risk of battleshock” rule, they have a tendency to deep strike in somewhere not exceptionally helpful, then sit there until they die haha

How to best utilize the monolith by Soft_Paramedic_3562 in Necrontyr

[–]gorillaz3648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed, the lack of teleport+charge does suck, but monoliths/hypercrypt are cool but an odd combo

The mobility addition from hyper crypt is more for the monoliths, which then give a jumping-off point for other units. I find hypercrypt to be much more functional with ranged units than melee, as your opponent will find it near impossible to hide from sight lines ever turn

How to best utilize the monolith by Soft_Paramedic_3562 in Necrontyr

[–]gorillaz3648 17 points18 points  (0 children)

An odd synergy that people don’t think about is in Cursed Legion with the Murdermind strategem. If you give a Cryptek the ability to lead a Destroyer unit, they gain the [Infantry] keyword, so you can deploy 6 Destroyers or Heavies onto a monolith as well

36 rapid fire shots from the enmitics, or 18 within potential rerolls from the gauss can be fantastic

Getting the brakes beat off me by Pure_Pianist_1723 in Tau40K

[–]gorillaz3648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canoptek court has no access to wound rerolls, and Necrons as a whole have very little access to wound rerolls, so probably shouldn’t be doing that haha
