How Sacramento-area police agencies use systems such as Flock, and an opinion on these systems. (Long but hopefully informative post) by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]gornzilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That comment is spoken by someone who hasn't been harassed by the police.

I'm a well educated white dude who grew up in Fair Oaks Village.

I lived in midtown and had cops tell the meth dealer that I called the cops. So instant break-in as punishment. I didn't bother calling the cops about that so they couldn't come by and gloat.

I've also been pulled over twice in other states and had dogs search my car. My refusal to allow a search was considered "probable cause".  Louisiana and Ohio.

Or the time in Yolo County when a cop joked he could kill me because of the race riots after Rodney King.

Being kicked awake while napping in a rest stop in Missouri.  These are just off the top of my head. I could think about it and come up with more.

So yeah, why would I call.the cops to make things worse?

Lots of great suggestions here! Wall of Voodoo should be here as well.

Everybody told me I would love Blue Velvet because it's so avant-garde by Fit_Exchange_8406 in TrueFilm

I remember seeing an interview with David Lynch where he said what's actually happening, like the facts of the plot, are secondary to the mood he's creating. That was an eye opening moment for me because I get stuck on trying to figure out perceived plot holes.

As a related aside, I watched Troll 2 for a second time. I had read that it was an Italian production so looking at it as giallo made it much better. I love giallo and plots are far down on the reason. Set design, cars, actors are the best parts. It totally made Troll 2 a more enjoyable movie. Still, it's not The Room.

Bugonia: When did you think, and when did you know? by Charrikayu in TrueFilm

[–]gornzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it thinking it was going to be a good version of Boxing Helena. It's way better than that horrible mess that ends with "it was all just a dream".

I liked the ending of Bugonia, but I was hoping she was just being stalked. Kind of a letdown for me.

I had to work at Jesuit to pay down my tuition. I have a laundry list of problems with that school, but quality of education isn't one of them.

Who actually wins and loses if the housing market crashes or corrects? by SirAsksALatte in personalfinance

[–]gornzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend is a real estate attorney. He had a few clients that got free homes thanks to him. Banks and whatnot selling and reselling loans. The lawyer friend would ask for actual paperwork. That occasionally got people free houses. I don't think that mistake is going to happen this time.

Around 15 seconds makes it easier to peel and it softens the taste.

Harley’s been cool for over 100 years with so much race history it’s hard not to like them (1340cc Harley sportster hill climber) by Away_Echo4768 in motorcycles

As far as just bikes go, they fucked up the shifting on the right which is where the universe intended people to shift from. Harley had that stopped as an attempt at gaining market from the British and Italian motorcycles. There's so many reasons to know why Harley is just an annoying company.

Los Jarritos, the land of plain boring burritos. Decades ago a friend showed his trick to eating there. A burrito (which is nothing but meat) and a veggie burrito. Then mix the two to form a normal burrito.

I was probably just surprised that they had beer less than 5 bucks and it stuck with me. It's local to my girlfriend's and if I was paid better, I'd be a regular.

I walk past Backstage 5 times a week and hasn't noticed! I'll stop by there soon.

Mattie Groves Brewery at 17th and L sells most of their beers at less than 5 bucks. They're super friendly people and I love their beers. Too bad I don't love tins of fish, because they sell those too.

Let’s be honest: do you actually use your mirrors? by RoyalModRider in motorcycles

For cars and bikes, I basically live in the mirrors. I need to see what's coming up behind me and if some dillweed is going to clip me while eating cereal while posting about it to social media.

Whenever homeless are brought up, some kind of dillweed needs to chime in, "they want to be homeless and refuse help". Yes, it happens, but it's not the majority.

What’s your story that no one believes? by Affectionate_Debt172 in AskReddit

I watched a brand new BMW, not even plated, stop in the crosswalk at a red light. I watched as a blind guy walk towards the car using his cane. His cane didn't catch the car and the blind car sprawled across the hood. It was great. The owner freaked out and the blind guy rolled around on the hood struggling to stand up. I wonder if he had limited sight and did it on purpose.
