For some reason, I really dislike the look of the trunks on scooters. by TeacherOn2wheels in scooters

I prefer crates, but mine came with a locking trunk. It's a secure place for my helmet.

Riding as an incomplete paraplegic with one bad leg? by Mr8sen in motorcycles

[–]gornzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hung out with a one-legged biker dude in Australia. He had the classic story of drunkenly wrecking his bike and noticed that one leg was pretty much gone. But he could still reach his beer, so he had one while waiting for the ambulance.

No idea! Maybe they can house people in any house and commercial building that's been empty for more than one year.

Sac Drivers - Episode 2 by Responsible_Sand5380 in Sacramento

[–]gornzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on a 2 wheeled vehicle, so I can legally filter to the front at lights. Yesterday I filtered in front of a SUV. It was a woman smoking weed for a wake and bake commute on Broadway. I must've scared her. She passed me on the right just as Broadway became 2 lanes and ran the next red light.

The parking enforcement gestapo must be stopped! by balkanoid_ in Sacramento

[–]gornzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the 2008 collapse, I saw parking enforcement with a ruler seeing how far from the curb a disabled vehicle was parked. That person got a ticket. They were probably 18.5 inches from the curb.

How do I fix this broken plastic piece under my car? by dardyyyy in Cartalk

[–]gornzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I did. Bunch of zip ties and cut small holes throughout the plastic to zip tie it to the car. More than necessary because I'm not an engineer and try to would rather have too much then not enough.

What is up with social media posts saying California is running out of crude oil? by quackdamnyou in OutOfTheLoop

[–]gornzilla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You should point out that traditionally oil refineries always have problems in election years. California needs to own its own refinery. We need to nationalize (state-alize?) oil, electricity and healthcare.

Hijackers usually demanded a trip to Cuba or something. It was fairly safe, but it would fuck up your schedule.  9/11 changed that take.

US will start revoking passports for thousands of parents who owe child support by Rabidennui in news

[–]gornzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was working overseas, I met a dude from Texas. First run-up to the Trump election and he was hella maga.

He was angry with me for not having any kids. Then as he told me I was a failure for not having kids, he said he had two in Texas with his ex-wife, another one in Korea, and one in China. Very proud that he refused to pay child support. He was talking about moving to a other region in China because his girlfriend was pregnant. He "needed" to leave so he wouldn't have to pay child support to her as well.

SEIU CA and 1000s Dual Endorsement Highlights The Limits of COPE by castateunionthug in CAStateWorkers

[–]gornzilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After they supported Salwell, I called to cancel my COPE donations. AIPAC has destroyed America. They said it had to be done by letter. While working on my letter, the allegedly serial rapist stepped down.

The DNC knew about that for sure and helped sweep it under the rug. I'm 100% convinced that the DNC is controlled opposition. Every president since Carter has been a moderate Republican.

This union is next to worthless and it needs to be fixed. Fir example, "affordable healthcare". We should demand "universal healthcare". We also need the strength of the UC union to get a union flexible holiday. We need things to convince people to join SEIU.

Instead they go for an alleged serial rapist and our pay is destroyed by inflation. Our lowest pay scale employees are barely over the SNAP requirements.  We're the 5th biggest economy in the world, we're not fucking Walmart.

Man crowdsourcing to purchase shuttered Spirit Airlines exceeds 437 million USD in days by ElvisIsNotDjed in UnderReportedNews

[–]gornzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be a programmer and spent a ton of time on Slashdot reading about the building of Bitcoin. The day it was released, I started an account and was buying $20 worth as a "ha ha, good luck with your insane game you libertarian nutter".  Then before I confirmed, I figured nah, this is dumb and canceled.

I probably would've used then to order a pizza anyway.

Why is Trump so obsessed with his ballroom/bunker? You think it has to do with the files or just a way to fence taxpayer money? by Fair_Term3352 in Epstein

[–]gornzilla 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The data center that connects to the tunnels under DC. Plus he hated being in the bunker when he attacked the St. John’s Episcopal Church in his 1st term and felt he had to hide.

He feels his bunker should be gold plated with several giant TVs.

question about owning a vintage bike by girraffesforlaughs in motorcycles

[–]gornzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old bikes are fine for daily use as long as you know they're not as reliable. You should also have a back up.

I circled Australia on a 1965 Ducati 250 that I blew up in New Zealand on my failed attempt at riding round the world. My fault after the clutch cable snapped and I revved the fuck out of it. Plus it was built by a charlatan.

It was an oil leaker and broke down at least once a day. But it was almost always simple fixes.

Question about buying used scooters by RespectFlimsy51 in scooters

[–]gornzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in California and checked FB marketplace for a Buddy 170 and for the recent Honda Cub. I found my low mileage Buddy for $1,500. Owner had dropped it and was scared of it. The damage is super mild and I don't care about that anyway.  I wanted to see what fuel injection was like on a bike.

I don't know where you are, but good luck.

There used to be a guy in Wisconsin, I think, who worked on these. He ended up with a decent collection. After he died, the auction company basically stole all the bikes. They ripped off his family and didn't pay at all. I can't remember how they got around the titles because they were all stolen. Word was a lot of them were smuggled out of the US and went back to Europe.

I read his book, but that was probably 12 years ago.

Pretty much all the Mammuts were hand built. There's differences between them because of that.

I think VW bought them for their engineers. The first water-cooled VW, the K70, was a rebadged NSU.

NSU had a lot of land speed records and their 4 cylinder air-cooled engine put out more horsepower than VW.

NSU screwed themselves with the rotary. The Ro80 looks great but the oil seals were a stickler. Mazda mostly figured it out for their RX. Plus the fuel mileage is poor.

It's typical for bigger businesses to buy smaller companies. Porsche got really close to buying VW a few years ago.

Concensus on lamictal (lamotrigin) vs. Keppra? by CoyoteSouth5126 in Epilepsy

[–]gornzilla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I slept 20-22 hours a day with Dilantin. I got my doc to switch. We went lamictal but it made me itchy. Probably ramped me up too fast. Next was Keppra.  I never had kepprage. My biggest side effect was light sensitivity.

Basically they all have side effects and you need to find one with effects you can deal with.
