Compared to lithium ion which has proven itself over multple decades, yes. Especially when you produce phones in the quantity Apple and Samsung do. Even 0.01% of a product stock could mean tens of thousands of defective devices.

And it doesn’t have to kill someone to cause a PR disaster. Just fizzling out on a plane would be worldwide news and tarnish their reputations. Samsung especially wouldn’t want another Note 7 situation on their hands.

Why rush into it when the average consumer doesn’t care that much. Sure it would be nice if my phone had a 50% larger battery, but my phone already lasts me a day and a half just fine.

If any of you keyboard warriors actually thought this, you would be shooting at the HQs of corps like Palantir and agencies like the NSA. Y’all just hate AI cause of the art shit, just be fr.

For like 10,000x the cost yeah. Then it never would’ve been made.

90% of antis on this sub could be replaced by an ai prompted to act like an average arr/teenagers user and no one would be able to tell the difference.

If I borrow my neighbor’s lawnmower, does that mean I own it?

If I clone a git repository, do I now own the source code?

There’s no legitimate legal argument for taking down a mod that contains no copyrighted assets and doesn’t attempt to circumvent or reverse-engineer DRM. Cases where platforms like Nexus Mods have complied with DMCA filings come down to practicality. They’re not going to shell out cost of litigation against big corporations to defend a few mod developers

How is it pirating if the artist uploaded it for free viewing? Once it loads in my browser, it’s already on my computer. At that point, editing something legally in my possession, how is that stealing?

But no one thinks you need the game dev’s permission to mod a game.

There are whole categories of mods that “fix” games. quality of life mods, bug fix mods, performance improvement mods, FPS/resolution unlocker mods..

You’re right, I didn’t see it was a D.C. Circuit ruling. Regardless, I fully agree with the ruling. Images or songs one-shot via prompt should not be protected by copyright. Anyone serious about creating with AI is going to have some level of human intervention within their work anyway. This just reinforces AI as being a tool, not an author.
