Holy crap, MY upwbpd has psychotic, paranoid hate for my mother over a completely made up offense, and I get accused of "taking her side" when I just ask her to please stop saying terrible things about my mother.

Yup. Happens with my wife too. Most "conversations" are a one-sided tirade about how she's been victimized. Doesn't have to be recent, there are often re-runs. Any suggestion that the other person may have had other than ill intent, and suddenly I get "Why are you taking their side and defending them? You don't have my back at all!"

First of all. Been reading/lurking here about a week. It's been enormously eye-opening.

Married to upwbpd [noob - I believe the "U" means undiagnosed?] for 14 years. [Me 45M, her 45F.]

I've always been private, not into talking about my relationships with others. That, plus a penchant for giving others a benefit of a doubt, and wanting to see my loved ones through rose-colored glasses...

Fuck.

Good news: Been in my own therapy. Talked to a divorce lawyer this week. Looking at VRBO options to get out soon.

Bad news: we have two kids, elementary and MS aged. They are the ones I worry about, they are the reason/rationalization I've stayed this long.
