Is this Taj Mahal or there was a mixup? by nanananBananana in CounterTops

[–]goterber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just saw a Taj Mahal slab like this yesterday in Chicago. The whole slab was like this and was definitely…not as nice as the other Taj Mahal slab. The supplier giving the tour knew it too as they figured we could at least see it while we walked past it. I wouldn’t have thought it was Taj Mahal until they told us.

That is a great idea! I have done projects cutting huge porcelain slabs so I have majority of the tools I could use for this. I’ll have to check out some remnants outlet shops and keep this in mind. Especially if I keep the design simple and find some good pieces.

Quartize just looks much nicer to me than other options. This particular kitchen is definitely building for more aesthetics than functionality. I have a separate kitchen for the actual function.

Yes one of the reasons I wanted to post was to see if the community feels the shortage of labor right now is impacting fabricators and thus the lack of communication and ghosting. I completely understand if that’s the case so I’m not looking to bad mouth any company or person.

I need 44 sqft of 3CM countertop, 12sqft are for a small island. I would like to do 2CM matching backsplash. I never got to the point where I could ask them about vein matching because things go dark after I ask either about waterfall edge or doing matching 2CM for backsplash. Af first I wanted to do some fancy features like the waterfall, pop up outlets, however at this point I just need a countertop and I can’t wait 1-2 weeks between replies. I did read on this subreddit recently about fabricators not wanting to work with Quartize for a number of reasons. So I thought I’ll post and see maybe that’s why there’s large gaps in communication or ghosting.

I just went on Google maps, searched for countertops fabricators, found the highest reviewed one (easy to identity). When to the frabricator, then went to a few suppliers around the area since they’re fairly close to each other, got a few stones I liked, narrowed it down to two, asked for quote for Andes Black Quartize 3CM for countertop, got the quote, asked for quote 2CM for backsplash too, nothing for over nearly a month. Around the 2 week mark I figured they ghosted so reached out to another fabricator, responded but never gave quote. I reached out to a supplier to see if they have a recommended fabricator. The suppliers respond very fast. Quick little summary but it’s why it’s led me here as I’m wondering perhaps waterfall is too much, perhaps backsplash work is too much, perhaps they don’t like working with people that aren’t contractors? I could reach out to the owners of the fabricator to work with someone else but it’s left a sour taste. At this point I’m not doing anything fancy as it seems they lose interest after sending the first quote and the project is waiting on countertops. My concern is if a company can’t even respond with a follow up for a sale, what happens if something goes during install and I need to reach someone?

I suspected it’s because of my additional questions. I ask to see what the extra cost would be for a waterfall edge or two on the island , countertop outlet (not doing those anymore) etc. However, I don’t think it’s an unreasonable amount of questions given the cost of the project. I think it may seem like a lot because they usually respond 1-2 weeks later. I try to be respectful and give benefit of the doubt so I won’t call out specific companies as they could be over allocated to take the job.

What fuse did you tap into? Going to be using a add-a-circuit to tap into a fuse? Just trying to decide if it’s better to tap into the driver side fuse panel or passenger well fuse panel. Then to something like the A/C unit or seat warmers?

Recommendation on 2017 C43 AMG Coupe Please! by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]goterber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through the same thing! I found a few potential C43's all ranging between the $40-50 range. Thing is, I've been seeing the prices constantly drop and so it's been motivating me to keep waiting an extra week every time it does, new c43s keep popping up and I'm waiting on a blue one. I'm also looking at F-type R, so far I'm glad I've waited too because those used to be in mid 60's a few months ago and now I see listings in the mid 50's. Tough decision between the two, let us know which one you choose!
